Do you have a question about the BRONKHORST IN-FLOW High Flow F-116AI and is the answer not in the manual?
This document describes the IN-FLOW High Flow series of mass flow meters and controllers, including models F-116AI, F-116BI, F-126AI, F-126BI, F-206AI, F-206BI, F-216AI, and F-216BI. This Quick Start Guide is intended for commissioning the product in non-critical processes, guiding users in controlling and monitoring research and pilot setups using Bronkhorst FlowSuite software.
The IN-FLOW High Flow product is designed to measure and/or control mass flow rates of clean and dry gases within a fluid system. It is suitable for general-purpose indoor (dry) applications, such as laboratories and machine enclosures, as well as for sheltered outdoor applications like installations in plant constructions. The device features a fluid inlet and outlet, a serial number label, optional connectors, a switch/push button, status LEDs, a main connector, and a control valve.
The pinout for the 8-DIN connector is as follows:
Installation: Before installation, users must check the packaging for damage and only install undamaged products. A red "Pressure Tested" label indicates that the product has been tested and approved. If this label is missing, the product should be returned. Users must verify that the specifications on the serial number label match the application and ensure the product is sufficiently clean.
Mounting Location: For reliable measurements, the product should be installed on a flat, rigid, and clean surface. Installation near mechanical vibrations, magnetic field sources, or heat sources should be avoided. The device is mounted to a rigid construction using mounting holes at the bottom of its base. Recommended torque values for bolts are: M3 (0.5 Nm), M4 (1.2 Nm), and M5 (2.4 Nm).
Pressure Rating: The maximum permissible system pressure is indicated in the technical specifications. Users must ensure that the product's pressure rating is equal to or greater than the maximum applied system pressure. Process connections should be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Fluid Line Connection: To prevent personal injury from fluid leakage, suitable piping material and connectors for the operating conditions must be used. Pipes/tubing should be cut squarely, cleaned, and deburred before mounting. All connections must be checked for fluid leakage before and after applying fluid pressure. Piping should be connected without stress to the fluid inlet and outlet, and connections tightened according to manufacturer instructions. All connectors and tubing must be free of dirt and debris.
Electrical Connection: For basic setup, Bronkhorst accessories are recommended, including a T-part 8DIN/SubD-9 cable and USB converter, and a PiPS-IN-8DIN power supply. When using third-party power supplies and cables, ensure the power supply's maximum power is sufficient and check the pinout diagram for correct wiring.
Software Integration (Bronkhorst FlowSuite): Bronkhorst FlowSuite automatically searches for connected products upon startup. If a product is not found, it may need to be set to serial RS-232 communication. This can be done by switching off power, holding the button while switching on power, and releasing it after 12-16 seconds when both red and green LEDs are fast blinking. If RS-232 is active, the green LED will long flash.
Commissioning: Fluid pressure should be applied gradually to prevent pressure shocks. The product requires a warm-up time of at least 30 minutes before starting measurements.
Adjusting Zero Point: To ensure correct measurements, the Zero Point should be adjusted before first use and after remounting. This is done via the Bronkhorst FlowSuite software: open the application, select the product, go to the Actions menu, press "Auto Zero," and follow the on-screen instructions.
Product Status Indicators: Bronkhorst FlowSuite displays product status icons based on the NAMUR NE 107 standard:
Routine Maintenance: While no routine maintenance is strictly required, a regular visual inspection is recommended to ensure correct and safe operation.
Pre-Use Checks: Before each use, check cabling for proper connection, damage, and wear. Inspect fluid lines and connections for leaks, damage, and wear. Any necessary repairs should be carried out immediately.
Removing Contamination: In case of clogging or contamination of the fluid path, purging the product and fluid lines with a clean, dry, and inert gas may resolve the issue.
Cleaning Exterior: The product's exterior should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided.
Users must read the manual carefully before installation and operation. All instructions, including the online comprehensive manual, must be observed to prevent material damage, personal injury, or danger to life. QR codes are provided for product info and service/support. Before working on the product, it must be de-energized, and appropriate measures taken to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD). Fluid leakage must always be checked before and after working on the product. The product may run hot during operation, so it should be allowed to cool down before any work, and protective gloves worn if necessary.
The product is intended for professional use, requiring experience and knowledge of installation, operational requirements, and application-specific national regulations. The product may not be disassembled or modified; unauthorized modifications will be considered unintended and improper use.
The product is intended for the process fluid indicated on the serial number label. Users must ensure the fluid used matches the label. If not, the online manual should be consulted for suitability with the product type and wetted materials. Users are responsible for safety measures and should refer to the material safety data sheet (MSDS) of the process fluid.
The product bears a symbol indicating it should not be disposed of with other waste but returned for proper dismantling, recycling, and reuse (WEEE). Within the EU, items should be returned following website instructions, mentioning disposal. Outside the EU, local or national directives for electronic equipment disposal should be consulted.
