A combination engine cut– off switch
and key switch is a feature of
Evinrude
prewired remote controls and all
Evin-
rude
control wiring kits. Use of the en-
gine cut– off switch feature is highly
recommended on all boats.
Connect the clip to the engine cut–off
switch/key switch.
If boat is equipped with a second sta-
tion, connect the clip to the second
station cut–off switch.
IIMMPPOORRTTAANNTT:: The second station
clip MUST be installed. The outboard
cannot be started if the second station
clip is not in place.

In an emergency situation, the engine
can be started without the clip in-
stalled on the key switch.
Follow the normal starting procedure.
Depress the engine cutoff switch and
keep it depressed until safety is
reached.
Reinstall a clip as soon as possible.
The operator should always use the
clip and tether cord anytime the en-
gine is running.

IIMMPPOORRTTAANNTT:: Your engine cut– off
switch can be effective only when in
good working condition. At each out-
ing, inspect clip and tether cord for
cuts, breaks, or wear. Replace worn
or damaged parts.
Snap the tether cord to a secure place
on the operator’s clothing or life vest
not where it might tear away in-
stead of activating the engine cut-off
switch.

Disconnecting the clip and tether cord
will stop the engine and prevent the
boat from be-coming a runaway if the
driver moves beyond the range of the
