Description
The Precision Sound Level Meter
Type 2203 contains a condenser
microphone with associated polariza-
tion voltage supply and preampli-
fier, a low noise amplifier and a me-
ter circuit with moving coil meter. A
built-in reference signal provides a
ready
check of the amplifier and me-
ter circuit .
Microphone
The B & K Microphone Type 41 65
employed in the sound level meter
is a prec1s1on condenser micro-
phone. It is designed to have a lin-
ear frequency response when used
for free-field sound measurements
where the sound has 0° angle of in-
cidence (perpendicular to micro-
phone diaphragm). The microphone
has excellent directional characteris-
tics over a wide frequency range .
Characteristics of the microphone
alone, and of the complete instru-
ment are shown on page 7 . Figs. 12
and 1 3 show the frequency re-
sponse
curves of the complete in-
strument to 0° incident sine waves,
and in a diffuse field. All curves are
well within the requirements of the
relevant standards . A calibration
