What to do if my Buell XB 2008 Motorcycle starter motor does not operate?

  If the starter motor on your Buell Motorcycle isn't working, make sure the ignition switch is in the ON position and the engine run switch is also ON. Check for a discharged battery, loose or corroded connections. The starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid might be faulty. The electric starter shaft pinion gear might not be engaging, or the overrunning clutch could be slipping. Also, check if the maxi-fuse is in place or blown. Ensure the Bank Angle Sensor hasn't tripped and that you've cycled the ignition switch OFF then ON. Confirm the clutch lever is squeezed or the transmission is in neutral. Other potential issues include a sheared rotor key or partially plugged fuel injectors.

Other potential issues include water or dirt in the fuel system, an intake air leak, a plugged fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve, or using engine lubricant that's too heavy for winter operation. The ignition might not be functioning correctly due to a possible sensor failure or a faulty ignition coil. Sticking or tight valves or a sheared rotor key can also cause hard starting. Finally, partially plugged fuel injectors could be the culprit.
