What to do if my Buell XB 2008 Motorcycle starter motor does not operate?
    • S
      Sonia ReyesAug 19, 2025
If the starter motor on your Buell Motorcycle isn't working, make sure the ignition switch is in the ON position and the engine run switch is also ON. Check for a discharged battery, loose or corroded connections. The starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid might be faulty. The electric starter shaft pinion gear might not be engaging, or the overrunning clutch could be slipping. Also, check if the maxi-fuse is in place or blown. Ensure the Bank Angle Sensor hasn't tripped and that you've cycled the ignition switch OFF then ON. Confirm the clutch lever is squeezed or the transmission is in neutral. Other potential issues include a sheared rotor key or partially plugged fuel injectors.

Why does my Buell XB 2008 start hard?
    • T
      Tina CarlsonAug 23, 2025
If your Buell Motorcycle is hard to start, the spark plugs might be in bad condition, have an improper gap, or be partially fouled. Check the spark plug cables for damage. A nearly discharged battery or loose wire connections at the battery terminals, coil, or ECM connector could also be the cause. Other potential issues include water or dirt in the fuel system, an intake air leak, a plugged fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve, or using engine lubricant that's too heavy for winter operation. The ignition might not be functioning correctly due to a possible sensor failure or a faulty ignition coil. Sticking or tight valves or a sheared rotor key can also cause hard starting. Finally, partially plugged fuel injectors could be the culprit.

Why does my Buell XB 2008 Motorcycle engine use too much oil?
    • E
      erica12Aug 28, 2025
If your Buell Motorcycle engine uses too much oil or smokes excessively, the oil tank may be overfilled. A restricted oil return line to the tank or restricted breather operation could also be the cause. Other potential issues include a restricted oil filter, piston rings that are badly worn or broken, valve guides or seals that are worn, a plugged crankcase scavenge port, or oil diluted with gas.

Why does my Buell Motorcycle overheat?
    • S
      swoodAug 30, 2025
If your Buell Motorcycle is overheating, it could be due to an insufficient oil supply or lack of oil circulation. Insufficient airflow over the engine or heavy carbon deposits can also cause overheating. Other potential issues include ignition timing that's retarded due to faulty sensors or a leaking valve.

What causes valve train noise in my Buell Motorcycle?
    • J
      Jesse ButlerSep 1, 2025
Valve train noise in your Buell Motorcycle can be caused by low oil pressure due to a malfunctioning oil feed pump or obstructed oil passages. Other potential causes include faulty hydraulic lifters, a bent push rod, incorrect push rod length, a rocker arm binding on the shaft, or a valve sticking in its guide.

What to do if my Buell XB 2008 has low oil pressure?
    • E
      Erin MarshSep 3, 2025
If your Buell Motorcycle has low oil pressure, the oil tank may be underfilled. It could also be due to a faulty low oil pressure switch or a bypass valve stuck in the open position. Other potential causes include worn oil pump gerotors, a restricted feed hose from the oil tank, a restricted high-pressure feed hose to the oil filter housing, oil diluted with gas, or an open in the oiling circuit.

What causes pre-ignition in Buell Motorcycle?
    • E
      Emily GarciaSep 5, 2025
Pre-ignition or detonation in your Buell Motorcycle can be caused by using fuel with too low of an octane rating or faulty spark plugs. Other potential issues include using an incorrect spark plug for the type of service, excessive carbon deposits on the piston head or in the combustion chamber, ignition timing advanced due to faulty sensor inputs, an incorrect heat range spark plug, or an intake manifold vacuum leak.

Why does my Buell XB 2008 Motorcycle leak oil?
    • K
      kingjuanSep 7, 2025
If your Buell Motorcycle is leaking oil from the cases, push rods, or hoses, it could be due to loose parts or an imperfect seal at gaskets, push rod covers, or washers. You can use a BLACK LIGHT LEAK DETECTOR (Part No. HD-35457) to help locate the leaks.

Why does my Buell Motorcycle spark plug fouls repeatedly?
    • J
      Jeremy ClarkeSep 9, 2025
If the spark plug in your Buell Motorcycle fouls repeatedly, the fuel mixture might be too rich. Other potential causes include using an incorrect spark plug for the kind of service, piston rings that are badly worn or broken, or valve guides or seals that are badly worn or damaged.

Why does my Buell XB 2008 has excessive vibration?
    • T
      Travis ColeSep 12, 2025
Excessive vibration in your Buell Motorcycle could be due to wheels that are not aligned, bent rims, or worn or damaged tires. The engine, transmission, or rear wheel might not be aligned properly. Other potential causes include a primary chain that's badly worn or has tight links, a loose upper engine mounting bracket, ignition timing advanced due to faulty sensor inputs or a poorly tuned engine, an internal engine problem, a broken frame, or stabilizer links that are worn or loose.
