Overview

The document describes the ITEM # FJ2 2 Ton Trolley Floor Jack, providing assembly, operating, and maintenance instructions.

Function Description:

This is a hydraulic lifting device designed to lift cars, pick-ups, RVs, and SUVs. It is intended for consumer use, not professional use. The jack's primary function is to lift a vehicle to a desired height for inspection or work, after which the load must be supported by proper rated capacity jack stands. It is explicitly stated that this is a lifting device only and should not be used for anything other than its intended purpose. The jack operates by pumping a handle to raise the lift arm and a release valve to lower it.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Capacity: Lifts up to 4,000 lbs (2 tons) maximum capacity.
  • Minimum Height Requirement: 5 inches.
  • Maximum Lift: 12 inches.
  • Wheel Base: 15 inches.
  • Construction: Heavy gauge reinforced steel frames.
  • Wheels: Two rear 360° swivel ball bearing caster wheels for easy maneuverability; front wheels are also present.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: Filled with 7 fl. oz. hydraulic jack oil.
  • Safety Features: Quick release valve, 360° swivel saddle.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: Involves inserting the handle into the jack assembly. Before first use, air must be released from the hydraulic system by turning the release valve counter-clockwise, removing the oil fill plug, and pumping the handle quickly. The vent plug on top of the oil chamber needs to be unscrewed to create a 1/16" gap for proper operation.
  • Operation:
    • To lift: Close the release valve tightly by turning it clockwise. Place the vehicle in Park (or in gear for standard transmissions) and apply the emergency brake. Position the jack under the vehicle at the proper lifting location (refer to the vehicle's owner's manual). If needed, turn the extension screw counter-clockwise until it contacts the vehicle. Insert the jack handle into the socket and pump to lift.
    • To lower: Remove the handle and use its small end to slowly open the release valve by turning it counter-clockwise. Once the vehicle is fully lowered, remove the jack. If the extension screw was used, turn it clockwise to retract it before removing the jack. Close the release valve for storage.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always center the load on the saddle of the jack to prevent damage.
    • Never overload the jack beyond its 2-ton capacity.
    • Always use on hard, level surfaces to prevent instability and potential loss of load.
    • Never stand or place your body beneath a lifted load.
    • Load must be supported by proper rated capacity jack stands under the vehicle before any inspection or work begins.
    • Do not force the tool; use it for its intended application.
    • Keep work areas clean, well-lit, and free of distractions.
    • Keep children and untrained persons away from the operating area.
    • Do not operate if tired, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, wearing loose clothing or jewelry, or if overreaching or having improper footing.

Maintenance Features:

  • Storage: When not in use, the lifting arm and pump lever should be in the full down position to protect machined surfaces from corrosion. The saddle and pump piston should always be left in the down position.
  • Lubrication: Keep the jack clean and well lubricated. Lubricate outside moving parts such as the lifting arm spindle, wheel bearings, and cross head pin. Put grease in the fitting on the base and lubricate the lifting arm spindle with oil every 3 months.
  • Oil Level Check/Adding Oil: With the ram fully lowered and the jack on level ground, remove the oil fill plug. Add oil if the level is more than 1/2" below the hole. Replace the cover plate.
  • Oil Replacement: Oil should be replaced at least once every year. To drain oil, remove the cover plate, oil filter plug, and release valve. Prevent dirt or foreign matter from entering the system.
  • Rust Prevention: Clean and wipe the piston ram and pump piston with an oily cloth every 3 months or when signs of rust or corrosion appear.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides detailed steps for common issues such as the jack not lowering or raising, lowering under load, not lowering completely when raised, and not lifting full capacity. These steps often involve checking oil levels, flushing valves, releasing trapped air, checking for worn seals (o-rings, cup seats), and ensuring proper lubrication.
  • Repair: A qualified repair technician must perform any tool service or repair. Only identical replacement parts should be used.
  • Cleaning: Do not use harsh chemicals such as gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, or paint thinner to clean the product.
