Overview

This document describes the Bunker Hill Safes Steel Book Safe, available in two models: the Small Steel Book Safe (Model 95815) and the Large Steel Book Safe (Model 95814). These safes are designed to resemble ordinary books, providing a discreet storage solution.

Function Description:

The Steel Book Safe is a portable, secure container intended for storing small valuables. It features a 3-dial combination lock for secure closure. The design aims to blend in with other books on a shelf, making it less conspicuous than a traditional safe. It is important to note that these safes do not meet the safety standards for gun safes specified in California Penal Code Section 12088.2 and do not satisfy the requirements of Penal Code Section 12088.1 regarding firearms safety devices or proof of ownership for gun safes. Therefore, explosives or firearms should not be placed in this safe. The manufacturer, Harbor Freight Tools, is not responsible for the loss of any property stored within the safe due to theft, fire, or other circumstances.

Usage Features:

  • Opening the Safe: To open the Book Safe, turn the Numbered Dial Lock on all three dials to the number ZERO (0-0-0). Then, lift the lid.
  • Setting the Combination:
    1. With the safe open, locate the Push Lever on the backside of the Numbered Dial Lock (inside the Book Safe).
    2. Remove the red cap covering the Push Lever.
    3. Push the Push Lever "OVER and UP" from B position to A position.
    4. Rotate the three Numbered Lock Dials to your desired personal numbers (e.g., birth date, address). Record your new combination in a safe place.
    5. Do not disturb the new combination. Flip the Push Lever back into its original position from A position to B position.
    6. Before closing the Book Lid, shut the lid and test to see if it is locked.
    7. Once it is locked, and the Lid is secure, spin the dials to "any number" to discourage easy opening. Without the code, a thief cannot access the contents.
    8. To change to a new combination, repeat steps 1 through 4.
