Power Faults
If excessive current is drawn on a port, the analog circuitry reports a PoE fault. The system then
turns the port power off. The power will be restored when the fault is removed.
In this power fault detection system, each port is designed with an electronic fuse that opens the
DC circuit in 26ms if the 1A maximum limit is reached. Then, every 1.7 seconds the fuse will
reconnect for 26ms. If the current is less than 1A during the 26ms sampling period, then the fuse
will stay connected, and the port will operate as normal.
Figure 65 shows the port status screen with a power fault on port 1.
