Overview

This document serves as an instruction manual for the Candy CDP 4725/CDP 4725X Dishwashers, providing comprehensive guidance on their operation, maintenance, and installation. The manual emphasizes safety information, operating instructions, installation instructions, and troubleshooting tips to ensure proper and efficient use of the appliance.

Function Description

The Candy CDP 4725/CDP 4725X Dishwasher is designed for household use, specifically for cleaning tableware. It features multiple wash cycles tailored to different levels of soiling and types of dishes. The appliance incorporates a water softening system to combat hard water deposits, ensuring optimal cleaning performance and preventing mineral buildup on dishes and utensils. It also includes a detergent dispenser and a rinse aid dispenser, both crucial for effective washing and drying.

The dishwasher's control panel allows users to select desired wash programs, set delayed starts, and monitor the appliance's status through various indicator lights. These lights include indicators for delayed start, start/reset, no salt, rinse aid, all-in-1 functions, child lock, energy saver, and program status. The appliance is equipped with upper and lower baskets designed for efficient loading of different dishware, including glasses, cups, plates, bowls, and silverware. The lower basket features fold-down tine rows to accommodate larger items like pots and pans.

Safety features are integrated throughout the design and operation. The appliance is earthed to reduce the risk of electric shock and includes a safety supply hose with double walls to prevent water flow in case of a hose break. A child lock function is available to prevent unintended operation.

Usage Features

To begin using the dishwasher, users are instructed to load dishes into the upper and lower baskets, ensuring proper placement to avoid obstruction of spray arms. Sharp items, such as knives, should be loaded with points down or horizontally. After loading, the detergent dispenser should be filled with dishwasher-specific detergent, and the rinse aid dispenser should be checked and refilled if necessary. The amount of detergent and rinse aid can be adjusted based on water hardness.

The control panel facilitates program selection. Users can choose from various wash cycles, including "Intensive" for heavily soiled loads, "ECO" for normally soiled tableware (optimized for energy and water consumption), "Normal" for lightly soiled loads, "UltraRapid 60" for daily washes, "Glass" for delicate items, "Ultra Rapid 24" for shorter washes, and "Refresh" for rinsing dishes planned for later washing. A delayed start function allows users to postpone the wash cycle for 3, 6, or 9 hours.

Once a program is selected, pressing the Start/Reset button initiates the wash cycle. The manual advises waiting 30 minutes after the wash cycle ends before opening the door to allow dishes to cool. If a dish is forgotten, it can be added before the detergent cup opens by pausing the cycle, opening the door, adding the dish, and then closing the door to resume.

The water softening system requires periodic refilling with dishwasher salt, indicated by a "No Salt Indicator Light." The salt consumption can be adjusted based on the local water hardness level, which can be determined by contacting the local water board. The rinse aid dispenser also has adjustable settings to prevent spots and streaks on dishes, with recommendations for initial and adjusted settings.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the dishwasher's longevity and performance. The manual outlines several key maintenance tasks:

  1. Cleaning the Filtering System: The dishwasher's filtering system, comprising a main filter, coarse filter, and fine filter, should be cleaned regularly. Food particles trapped in these filters need to be removed to prevent redeposition on dishes. The filter assembly can be removed by pulling on the cup handle, and each component should be cleaned with a brush under running water. It is emphasized that the dishwasher should never be operated without the filters in place.

  2. Cleaning the Spray Arms: Hard water chemicals can clog the spray arm jets and bearings. Therefore, the spray arms need to be cleaned regularly. They can be removed by unscrewing a nut, washed with soapy water, and cleaned with a soft brush.

  3. Caring for the Dishwasher Exterior and Interior: The control panel should be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth and dried thoroughly. The exterior can be cleaned with a cloth soaked in water, avoiding solvents or abrasive cleaners. For the interior, a damp sponge with water and white vinegar or a specialized dishwasher cleaning product can be used to remove spots or stains. The edge around the door should be cleaned with a soft, warm, damp rag, taking care not to use spray cleaners that could damage electrical components.

  4. Post-Wash Care: After every wash, the water supply should be turned off, and the door left slightly ajar to prevent moisture and odors from being trapped inside.

  5. Long-Term Storage (Holiday): If the dishwasher will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to run an empty wash cycle, remove the plug, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly ajar. This helps preserve the seals and prevents odors.

  6. Protecting Against Freezing: For dishwashers in unheated places during winter, specific steps are advised: cutting off electrical power, turning off and disconnecting the water supply, draining water from the inlet pipe and water valve, and removing excess water from the tub using a sponge.

  7. Seals Maintenance: Periodic cleaning of the seals with a damp sponge helps prevent food residue from accumulating, which can cause odors.

The manual also provides troubleshooting tips for common issues like the dishwasher not running, drain pump not stopping, noise, suds in the tub, stained interior, dishes not drying, and spots/filming on glassware, offering solutions before professional service is required. Error codes (E1 for longer inlet time, E4 for overfilled) are also explained with their possible causes and remedies.
