Overview

This document provides user instructions for the Candy CDS 3415 dishwasher, covering its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Candy CDS 3415 is a dishwasher designed for domestic use, capable of washing normal household utensils. It features a water softener unit that uses regenerating salt to provide softened water, preventing limescale and white stains on dishes. The dishwasher offers various wash programs, including "HYGIENIC," "UNIVERSAL," "ECO," "DELICATE," and "RAPID 32'," catering to different levels of soiling and types of dishes. Some programs, identified as "IMPULSE" programs, utilize an impulse washing technology to reduce consumption, noise, and improve performance. The "HPS" option button allows for increased wash intensity, adding an extra rinse and, where applicable, increasing water temperature and pressure for heavily soiled items or dried-on food. A "DELAY START" knob enables users to postpone the program start by 1 to 12 hours. The machine is equipped with an anti-overflow safety device that automatically discharges excess water in case of a malfunction.

  • Power consumption (off-mode and left-on mode): 0.30 W / 0.80 W
  • Water softener unit: Can treat water with hardness up to 90°fH (French grading) or 50°dH (German grading) through 6 different settings. The salt dispenser has a capacity of 1.5 to 1.8 kg.
  • Water connection: Can be connected to cold or hot water, not exceeding 60°C.
  • Drain hose: Must discharge into a standpipe at least 40 cm above floor level, with an internal diameter of at least 4 cm. Can be extended up to 2.5 m, but kept at a maximum height of 85 cm.

Usage Features

  • Loading Dishes:
    • Upper Basket: Equipped with mobile racks that can be adjusted to 4 positions. In the lowered position (A-A1), racks support cups, knives, and ladles, and glasses with stems can be hung. In the upright position (B-B1), racks accommodate dinner and soup plates, loaded vertically with space for water circulation. Large plates (approx. 26 cm or more) should be slightly tilted. Salad bowls and plastic bowls should be blocked to prevent overturning. The upper basket offers flexibility, allowing loads of up to 24 plates on two rows, 30 glasses on five rows, or mixed loads.
    • Lower Basket: Designed for saucepans, oven dishes, tureens, salad bowls, lids, serving dishes, dinner plates, soup plates, and ladles. It features an adjustable central rack (fig. 4 and 5) for stable loading of various dish sizes and shapes. Small plates (e.g., dessert plates) should be placed in the lower basket with support flaps outwards ("B"), while normal or large plates use the flaps inwards ("A").
    • Cutlery Basket: Cutlery should be placed with handles pointing upwards. The top of the cutlery basket can be removed for various loading options. Ensure cutlery does not obstruct the rotating spray arms.
  • Detergent Loading: Use only powder, liquid, or tablet detergents specifically designed for dishwashers. Detergent is loaded into a container inside the door (fig. A "2"). The lid opens by pressing a button (A). Recommended dosage is 20-30g for the main wash. Ensure dishes in the lower basket do not obstruct the detergent dispenser.
  • Rinse Aid Loading: The rinse aid container is to the left of the detergent container (fig. A "3"). Open the lid by pushing the reference mark and pulling the tab. Use only dishwasher-specific rinse aid. The level can be checked via an optical indicator (C). The rinse aid dosage can be regulated from 1 to 6 using a coin-operated regulator (D), with 4 being the recommended position. Adjust based on streaking (decrease) or whitish spots (increase).
  • Water Softener Regulation: The water softener unit has 6 levels. To adjust:
    1. With the dishwasher off, open the door.
    2. Turn the program selector to "UNIVERSAL."
    3. Press the "ON/OFF" button.
    4. Within 15 seconds, turn the dial counter-clockwise to "RESET," then back to "UNIVERSAL" four times.
    5. The "WASHING" light will flash 3 times, and an alarm will sound 3 times, indicating the factory setting (LEVEL 3).
    6. Turn the program selector to the desired level (1-6).
    7. The "WASHING" light will flash and an alarm will sound corresponding to the selected level.
    8. Turn off the dishwasher by pressing "ON/OFF" to confirm the new setting.
  • Salt Loading: The salt container is at the bottom of the machine. Use only dishwasher-specific regenerating salt. Unscrew the cap and fill the container. For the first use, add water until it overflows after filling with salt. The salt loading indicator light on the control panel will illuminate when refilling is needed. After loading salt, it is recommended to run a complete wash cycle or the "COLD RINSE" program to flush out any spilled salt solution.
  • Program Interruption: Opening the door during a program will automatically stop the dishwasher. The "WASHING" light will flash until the door is re-closed, and the program will resume. Opening the door during the drying cycle will trigger an audible signal.
  • Changing/Cancelling a Program: Turn the program selector to "RESET" and wait for the "WASHING" light to go off. A new program can then be set.
  • End of Program Alarm: The program end is signaled by a 5-second acoustic signal, repeated three times at 30-second intervals. The "WASHING" light will flash. To deactivate the alarm:
    1. With the dishwasher off, open the door.
    2. Turn the program selector to "RAPID."
    3. Press the "ON/OFF" button.
    4. Within 15 seconds, turn the dial clockwise to "RESET," then back to "RAPID" four times.
    5. The "WASHING" light will illuminate.
    6. Turn the program selector clockwise to "RESET" (the "WASHING" light will flash to indicate deactivation).
    7. Turn off the dishwasher by pressing "ON/OFF" to confirm.

Maintenance Features

  • External Cleaning: Use only a damp cloth with warm water; avoid solvents or abrasives.
  • Internal Cleaning: The wash tank is self-cleaning. Regularly wipe the door gasket with a damp cloth to remove food residues or rinse aid. Periodically remove limescale deposits by running an empty wash with a glass of vinegar in the tank on a delicate program.
  • Filter Cleaning: The filter system (fig. A "4") consists of a central container, a flat gauze, and a microfilter. For optimal results, check and clean filters after each wash. To remove, turn the handle anticlockwise (fig. 1). The central container (fig. 2) and gauze filter (fig. 3) are removable for washing under running water, using a small brush if needed. Ensure filters are correctly reassembled and screwed back clockwise, with the gauze filter properly seated at the bottom of the dishwasher. Never use the dishwasher without filters.
  • Spray Arm Cleaning: If dishes are not properly washed or rinsed, check that the spray heads on the rotor arms (fig. A "5") are clear. To clean:
    1. Remove the upper spray arm by rotating it to the stop marked by the arrow (fig. 1b), pushing it upwards (fig. 1), and unscrewing it clockwise. Reassemble by reversing the process, turning counter-clockwise.
    2. Remove the lower spray arm by pulling it upwards (fig. 2).
    3. Wash the spray arms under running water to clear any blockages.
    4. Refit the spray arms, ensuring the upper arm is re-aligned with the stop mark and screwed into position.
  • Long-Term Non-Use:
    1. Run an empty wash with detergent.
    2. Unplug the machine.
    3. Turn off the water tap.
    4. Fill the rinse aid container.
    5. Leave the door ajar.
    6. Keep the interior clean.
    7. If temperatures drop below 0°C, ensure the room temperature rises above zero and wait 24 hours before restarting.

Troubleshooting

The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the machine not starting, not drawing/discharging water, spray arms not rotating, and white spots on dishes. It advises users to check basic connections and settings before contacting customer service. If the "WASHING" indicator light flashes rapidly with an audible signal, it indicates an incorrect programming function or malfunction. In such cases, turn the program selector to "RESET," wait for the light to go off, and turn off the dishwasher. Then, check water inlet/drain hoses and filters, and reset the program. If problems persist, contact the After Sales Service Centre, providing the model and serial number.
