The Océ VarioPrint 6000+ Series is a line of digital duplex cut-sheet printers, including Ultra+, TP+, and MICR+ models, designed for high-volume print environments. These printers leverage Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology, which simultaneously presses images onto both sides of the paper in a single pass, ensuring accurate registration and offset-class quality.
The VarioPrint 6000+ Series offers various capabilities depending on the model. The Ultra+ series prints two-sided LTR (Letter-size) documents at speeds up to 306 images per minute (ipm), supporting a wide range of media, sizes, and weights. It is suitable for high-volume applications like books, course materials, manuals, booklets, catalogs, and variable data printing. The TP+ series, also printing up to 306 ipm on LTR paper, is optimized for transactional and direct mail environments, handling applications such as invoices, statements, insurance policies, postcards, and interactive documents with QR codes. The MICR+ series, printing up to 248 ipm, is specifically designed for secure and accurate checks and other negotiable documents, featuring standard Secure IPDS Printing while also supporting PostScript 3, PDF, PCL6, and PCL5e. All models can also print books, booklets, manuals, invoices, statements, direct mail, and other duplex documents.
The main unit (print engine) supports black-and-white printing with a resolution of up to 600 x 1,200 dpi and 200 gradations. It measures 56.8" (1,443 mm) in width, 42.1" (1,070 mm) in depth, and 76.0" (1,930 mm) in height, weighing approximately 1,499 lb (680 kg).
Paper Input Modules (PIM-A1) provide a capacity of approximately 4,600 sheets (LTR, 20 lb bond). The system can support up to 12 paper trays, totaling 13,800 sheets, or approximately 24,000 sheets with the Duo Paper Tray option. A roll feeder can also be attached, acting as a third PIM, though this limits the number of PIMs to two. Supported media sizes range from 8" x 8" (203 mm x 203 mm) to 12.6" x 19.2" (320 mm x 488 mm). Paper weights for plain media range from 16 lb bond to 74 lb cover (60 to 200 g/m²), with approved media extending to 50-60 g/m² and 200-300 g/m². Coated media is supported from 115 to 200 g/m² standard, and approved media from 80-115 g/m² and 200-250 g/m². Registration tolerance is maximum ±0.5 mm.
The PRISMAsync Controller, featuring a T20 iBase server with an Intel i5 2.4 GHz processor, 4 GB DDR 1333 MHz memory, and 2 x 500 GB hard disks, manages the print workflow. It includes 2 x Gbit Ethernet ports, supports TCP/IP, SNMP, and IPP protocols, and runs on Windows 7 (embedded 64-bit). It supports Adobe PostScript 3, PDF 1.7, PCL 6, and XPS page description languages, and allows printing from USB. Security features include CC EAL 2+, E-Shredding, Firewall, and user authentication.
Optional finishing accessories include High Capacity Stackers (up to three, each holding 6,000 sheets), a Set Finisher (up to 4,000 sheets LTR, stapling up to 100 sheets), iXDP eXchangeable Die Punch (for 3, 11, 19, 32, or 44 holes), Océ DFS30-N Tape Binder (binding up to 120 sheets), Booklet Makers (BLM200, BLM550, BLM6300), GBC PowerPunch, and Glue Binder.
Power requirements for the main unit are a dedicated single-phase 208-240 V/50A NEMA 14-50 receptacle or a dedicated 3-phase 208-240 V/30A NEMA L15-30 receptacle. Optional accessories have their own power requirements, typically 115V or 220V AC.
Environmental requirements include an optimum temperature range of 62.6°F (17°C) to 82.4°F (28°C) and 20% to 80% relative humidity. Noise levels are approximately 78 dB during printing and 58 dB in standby. Ozone emissions are low, approximately 0.2 mg/hour for most models and 0.3 mg/hour for the VP6320+.
The PRISMAsync controller streamlines workflow with features like a scheduler for multiple jobs, streaming (spooling, RIPing, printing, and cleaning up simultaneously), JDF compatibility, and customizable workflow profiles. Media-based operation is facilitated by the PRISMA media catalog, and settings are accessible via a Web browser. The Operating Panel-B1 offers power management, a USB connector for direct printing, and a media button for tray access during warm-up. Remote User Interface allows monitoring machine status and job timelines from any networked computer. Océ PRISMAaccess, PRISMAprepare, and PRISMAproduction software provide advanced job management, impositioning, document preparation, and centralized workflow for various printing needs.
The Key Operator Maintenance (KOM) program allows customers to perform limited service tasks, such as changing toner, replacing spiral cleaners, clearing paper jams in the hot area, cleaning the OPC belt, and adjusting the paper quality factor. This program aims to increase machine uptime and reduce service technician labor costs. Training for KOM is provided by the servicing dealer. Key operator replaceable parts, including TTF Spiral Cleaners, TTF Sheet Cleaners, Charging Units, Oil Rollers, Cleaning Webs, and Fuser Oil Containers, are designed for easy replacement by trained operators. Safety guidelines emphasize wearing heat-resistant gloves for hot parts, using correct lifting techniques, and avoiding contact with sharp edges. Toner and paper can be refilled or replaced while the machine is running, minimizing productivity impact. The machine's estimated performance standard (EPS) is approximately 1 billion pages or 10 years, whichever comes first, assuming maintenance by Canon authorized technicians and use of genuine parts.
