This document serves as an instruction manual for the Caple CM130 Microwave & Grill, providing essential information for its safe installation, operation, and maintenance. It emphasizes the importance of reading the manual thoroughly to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Function Description
The Caple CM130 is a built-in microwave oven with an integrated grill function, designed for household and similar applications. Its primary function is to heat food and beverages using microwave energy, and it also offers grilling capabilities for various food items. The appliance features a control panel for setting cooking parameters, a turntable for even heating, and a door assembly with a safety interlock system.
Usage Features
The microwave offers a range of cooking modes and settings to accommodate different needs:
- Clock Setting: Upon initial power-on, the display shows "0:00". The clock can be set to a 24-hour format by pressing "Kitchen Timer/Clock" twice, then using the rotary knob to adjust hours (0-24hr) and minutes (0-59). Confirming with "Kitchen Timer/Clock" sets the time. If the clock is not set, the oven will not function.
- Microwave Cooking: To initiate microwave cooking, press "Micro/Grill/Combi". The LED will display "P100" (100% microwave power). Repeated presses of "Micro/Grill/Combi" or using the rotary knob allow selection of different power levels: P100 (100%), P80 (80%), P50 (50%), P30 (30%), or P10 (10%). After selecting the desired power, confirm with "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" and then use the rotary knob to set the cooking time (from 0:05 to 95:00). Press "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" again to begin cooking.
- Combination Cooking: This mode allows for cooking with a combination of microwave and grill power. Press "Micro/Grill/Combi" to display "P100", then repeatedly press "Micro/Grill/Combi" or use the rotary knob to select a combination mode (e.g., "C-1" for 55% microwave and 45% grill, or "C-2" for 36% microwave and 64% grill). Confirm the selection with "Start/+30Sec/Confirm", then set the cooking time (0:05 to 95:00) using the rotary knob, and press "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" to start. During grilling, the oven may sound twice at half the grilling time, indicating it's an opportune moment to turn the food for better results.
- Quick Start: In standby mode, pressing "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" immediately starts cooking at 100% microwave power, adding 30 seconds of cooking time with each press, up to 95 minutes. This function can also be used to add 30 seconds to existing microwave, grill, or time defrost cooking. Alternatively, in standby mode, the rotary knob can be used to set cooking time with 100% microwave power, followed by "Start/+30Sec/Confirm".
- Defrost by Weight: Press "Weigh/Time/Defrost" once to display "dEF1". Use the rotary knob to select the food weight (100g to 2000g). Press "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" to begin defrosting.
- Defrost by Time: Press "Weigh/Time/Defrost" twice to display "dEF2". Use the rotary knob to select the defrost time (up to 95 minutes). Press "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" to start defrosting. The defrost power in this mode is fixed at P30 (30%) and cannot be changed.
- Kitchen Timer: Press "Kitchen/Timer/Clock" once to display "00:00". Use the rotary knob to set the desired timer duration (up to 95 minutes). Confirm with "Start/+30Sec/Confirm". The timer is distinct from the 24-hour clock and will sound five times when the set time is reached.
- Auto Menu: This feature provides pre-set cooking programs for common food items. Turn the rotary knob to select a menu (A-1 to A-8, covering pizza, meat, vegetables, pasta, potato, fish, beverage, and popcorn). Confirm with "Start/+30Sec/Confirm", then use the rotary knob to select the default weight for the chosen menu. Press "Start/+30Sec/Confirm" to start cooking.
- Multi-Stage Cooking: Two cooking stages can be set. If one stage involves defrosting, it must be the first stage. The oven will beep once after each stage before proceeding to the next. Auto menu and preheating cannot be used as multi-stage options.
- Inquiring Function: During microwave, grill, or combination cooking, pressing "Micro/Grill/Combi" will display the current power level for 3 seconds before reverting to the previous state. Pressing "Kitchen/Timer/Clock" during cooking will display the remaining time for 3 seconds.
- Child Safety Lock: To lock the oven, press "Stop/Clear" for 3 seconds in standby mode. A "beep" will sound, and a lock icon will illuminate. The current time will display if set, otherwise "[:]" will show. To unlock, press "Stop/Clear" for 3 seconds again; a "beep" will sound, indicating the lock is released.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning and proper care are crucial for maintaining the appliance's performance and longevity:
- General Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. The oven cavity should be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth after each use. Accessories like the turntable should be washed in soapy water. The door frame, seal, and surrounding parts require careful cleaning with a damp cloth.
- Avoiding Harsh Cleaners: Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers on the oven door glass, as this can scratch the surface and potentially lead to shattering.
- Cleaning Tip for Cavity Walls: For easier cleaning of the cavity walls, place half a lemon in a bowl with 300ml (1/2 pint) of water and heat on 100% microwave power for 10 minutes. Afterward, wipe the oven clean with a soft, dry cloth.
- Turntable Care: Ensure the glass tray and turntable ring assembly are always used during cooking and that food containers are placed on the glass turntable. If the turntable components crack or break, contact an authorized service center.
- Food Deposits: The oven should be cleaned regularly to remove any food deposits, as failure to do so can lead to deterioration of the surface, potentially affecting the appliance's life and creating a hazardous situation.
- Steam Cleaners: Steam cleaners are not to be used for cleaning the appliance.
- Professional Repair: Any service or repair operation involving the removal of covers that protect against microwave energy exposure should only be carried out by a competent person. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
