Overview

The Cardo Scala Rider Q3/Q3 MultiSet is a communication system designed for motorcyclists, offering a range of features for intercom, mobile phone connectivity, A2DP music, and FM radio. This quick guide serves as a concise reference for its primary functions and usage.

General Functions:

The device is powered ON by pressing the "IC" button for 2 seconds, indicated by three blue flashes and an ascending tone. To power OFF, the same action results in three red flashes and a descending tone. Volume adjustments for any active audio source are made by tapping "V+" or "V-". Muting the device is achieved by tapping "V+" and "V-" simultaneously. The battery level indicator, visible in Standby mode by pressing "V+" for 2 seconds, uses LED colors: blue for full charge, purple for half charge, and red for almost empty.

Voice Operated eXchange (VOX) for intercom calls can be enabled or disabled by pressing "V+" and "V-" simultaneously in standby. A blue flash for 2 seconds indicates VOX is enabled, while a red flash for 2 seconds indicates it's disabled. Priority for A2DP audio or intercom can be set via the Voice Menu or the Cardo Community platform. The Click-to-Link® (CTL) feature, enabled by default, can also be managed through the Voice Menu or the Cardo Community. Spoken Status Announcements, also enabled by default, can be toggled on or off via the same methods.

LED Status Indicators:

The device uses LED flashes to communicate its status. No LED indicates the scala rider is OFF. A single blue flash every 3 seconds signifies Standby mode with no active audio sources. Two blue flashes every 3 seconds mean the device is in Active mode, with a call in progress, music playing, or another audio source active. A single red flash every 3 seconds indicates low battery in Standby mode. Two red flashes every 3 seconds signify low battery in Active mode. A solid red LED indicates the device is currently charging.

Voice Menu:

To access the Voice Menu, press "MM" and "IC" simultaneously for 5 seconds in standby mode, then follow the audio instructions. To exit the Voice Menu, press "MM".

Mobile Phone Functions:

Answering a call can be done by tapping "MM" or by speaking loudly to activate VOX. To reject a call, remain silent for 15 seconds or press and hold "MM" for 2 seconds. Ending a call requires a single tap of "MM". Voice Dial, if supported by the mobile phone, is activated by tapping "MM" and "IC" simultaneously and following the phone's prompts. Redialing the last number involves pressing "MM" and "IC" for 2 seconds. The Hot Dial feature is activated by tapping "MM" three times. When on a phone call, the default phone can be set by pressing "V+" for 5 seconds. To toggle the default phone, press "MM" for 5 seconds in Standby mode. Note that Voice Dial, Redial, and Hot Dial features are not available during mobile calls.

A2DP Music and FM Radio:

To turn on A2DP music, tap "MM" in Standby mode. To turn on the FM radio, double-tap "MM" in Standby mode. Audio can be paused or stopped by pressing "MM" for 2 seconds. To navigate to the next track or radio station, tap "MM" while audio is playing. To go to the previous track or station, double-tap "MM" while audio is playing. Some phones may require repeating this action for previous track/station selection.

Music Sharing (via A2DP only):

The sender can start or stop sharing music by pressing "V+" or "V-" for 2 seconds during A2DP music playback. The receiver can stop music sharing by pressing "V+" or "V-" for 2 seconds.

Pairing Bluetooth Devices:

For mobile phone, GPS, or A2DP music player pairing on Bluetooth Channel 1, press "V+" for 5 seconds in Standby mode. For Bluetooth Channel 2 pairing, press "V-" for 5 seconds in Standby mode.

Intercom:

MultiSet units come factory paired. The Q3 unit supports three intercom channels for connecting with three other riders. To pair Channel A, press "IC" for 5 seconds on both units until LEDs flash rapidly; no further action is needed, indicated by rapid red LED flashing. To pair Channel B, double-tap "IC" (rapid blue LED flashing). To pair Channel C, triple-tap "IC" (rapid purple LED flashing).

Initiating an intercom call to Channel A requires a single tap of "IC". For Channel B, double-tap "IC". For Channel C, triple-tap "IC". The Voice Connect (VOX) feature allows for automatic intercom call activation by speaking loudly into the microphone. To set priority for an intercom channel, press "V+" for 5 seconds during an intercom call with the selected channel.

To send a CTL call request (which searches for up to 10 seconds), press "MM" for 2 seconds in standby. To end or cancel a CTL request, tap "IC". When a CTL ringtone is heard, accept the call by tapping "IC" or speaking loudly. To reject a CTL call, remain silent until the ringtone stops or press "IC" for 2 seconds. The CTL feature, enabled by default, can be managed via the Voice Menu or the Cardo Community.

Radio Station Tuning:

To seek up/down and save a preset, choose a preset by tapping "MM", then press "V+" or "V-" for 2 seconds. Tap "MM" within 20 seconds to save it to the current preset. To automatically scan for a station, with the radio ON, press "V+" for 5 seconds. To stop the search, tap "V+" or "V-". Tap "MM" within 20 seconds to save to the current preset. To reset pairing (deletes all paired devices), in Standby, press "V+" for 5 seconds until the LED flashes red/blue. Then, press "MM" for 2 seconds until the LED flashes 5 times in purple and the unit turns off.
