Overview

The Adventurer X8 is a mobility scooter designed for individuals with limited mobility, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It is a Class C scooter, emphasizing safety, ease of operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Adventurer X8 provides personal transportation for users with limited mobility. It is equipped with an automatic power shut-down function, turning off after 30 minutes of inactivity to prevent accidental battery discharge. The scooter features an electromagnetic brake system that automatically activates when the speed control lever is released, ensuring safe stops. It also includes a main circuit breaker (reset button) to protect the motor and electronics from damage in cases of low battery voltage or excessive load. The scooter is designed for single-person use and should not carry passengers.

Usage Features

The Adventurer X8 offers several features to enhance user experience and safety:

  • Control Panel: Includes a battery level indicator, speed control (slow/fast), speed switch, horn, emergency lights, lights (front and rear), and left/right indicators. It also displays temperature, mileage, high/slow speed mode, battery status, and controller fault codes.
  • Speed Settings: The speed dial allows users to set a comfortable and safe speed. For initial practice, setting the speed to "3" is recommended. High-speed settings should only be used when confident in maneuvering the scooter.
  • Pavement Driving: When driving on pavements, the 12.8 km/h limit switch should be set to the slowest setting, as driving faster than 12.8 km/h on paved roads is illegal.
  • Seat Features: The seat can be rotated to 45 or 90 degrees and adjusted forwards/backwards. It is crucial to return the seat to the forward-facing position before driving. A seat belt is provided for positioning, not as a safety restraint, and should be worn while driving. Belts showing signs of wear should be replaced immediately.
  • Armrest Adjustment: Armrest height can be adjusted using a knob at the rear of the armrest.
  • Tiller Adjustment: The tiller can be adjusted to various positions by pushing a lever and releasing it to secure the position.
  • Manual Brake: A manual brake lever is available, which can be squeezed to apply the brake and released to disengage. The brake cable adjuster on the left side allows for adjustment.
  • Freewheel Mode: The scooter has an "Engaged Mode" where it moves only with the motor (lever pushed forwards) and a "Freewheel Mode" where it can be manually pushed (lever pulled backwards). It is critical NEVER to switch to freewheel mode on a gradient, as this disengages the electromagnetic brakes and can lead to injury.
  • USB Charger: A convenient USB power adapter is available for charging mobile phones.
  • Lights: Front and rear lights can be turned on/off by pushing a button.
  • Indicator Lamp Switch: When the switch is turned left or right, the lamp flashes, and a buzzer sounds. Moving the switch back to the middle turns off the display.
  • Horn Button: Pressing the horn button sounds the horn, which stops when the button is released.
  • Temperature Sensor: The temperature sensor is integrated into the control panel and provides reference temperature readings.

Maintenance Features

Regular inspection and maintenance are crucial for the Adventurer X8's longevity and performance:

  • Cleaning: The scooter should be cleaned with a damp cloth and dusted approximately once a week. Avoid splashing water directly onto the scooter, as this can cause electrical malfunctions. Do not use petrol, solvents, or vaporizing solutions, as they may deform or damage the shrouds. Wax should also be avoided.
  • Tiller and Seat Adjustment: The tiller height should be adjusted, and the seat swiveled once a week to ensure smooth operation of parts.
  • Tyre Inspection: Check tyre pressure every two weeks, inflating to 30psi, with a maximum of 40psi. Regular inspection of tyre tread depth is essential; replace tyres when the tread depth is less than 0.5 mm to prevent slippage and ensure optimal braking distance. The recommended tyre pressure for best ride and handling is about 26 PSI (approx. 1.8KG/cm).
  • Battery Care:
    • Charge the battery each time the scooter is used to ensure maximum range, or at least once a week, even when idle.
    • Fully recharge new batteries before first use and ensure complete charging every time to prolong battery life.
    • Avoid exposing batteries to temperatures below 10°C or above 50°C during charging or storage to prevent damage and reduced lifespan.
    • The batteries are maintenance-free and do not require water refilling.
    • If the scooter is not used for a long time, charge the battery at least every week.
    • After charging, disconnect the charger from the scooter to prevent power drain.
    • The battery has a 6-month warranty covering manufacturing defects, not improper charging.
    • If battery capacity drops to 50% of its original range, it may need replacement.
  • Charging Procedure:
    1. Turn the power switch to OFF.
    2. Connect the charger's power cord to a power outlet.
    3. Open the charging socket cap on the tiller and connect the charger.
    4. Switch ON the charger.
    5. Red and orange LEDs will illuminate, indicating charging. Minimum charging is 6 hours, recommended 10 hours for optimum performance, and no more than 24 hours.
    6. LEDs turn green when charging is complete.
    7. Switch OFF the charger, disconnect the power cord and plug from the socket.
    • Warning: If the charger fan does not work or the green light is not showing, do not use the charger to avoid overheating and fire. If the red LED on the charger does not illuminate, the charger is defective.
  • Fuse: If the battery charger is on but no LEDs are lit, the fuse may be at fault. Contact a dealer for fuse inspection or replacement, as the tiller shroud needs to be removed.
  • Storage: Store the scooter with the seat in the "Forward" position and the power switch turned to OFF.
  • Moving: Turn the power switch OFF before moving. Lift the scooter by the chassis, not the bumpers, to prevent damage or injury. Always seek help from 2-3 persons when moving or lifting the scooter.
  • Professional Servicing: For optimum performance and increased lifespan, an annual service is recommended. Regular maintenance checks should be performed by a dealer at six-month intervals after the initial one-month inspection.

The manufacturer reserves the right to alter weights, measurements, or other technical data without notice. All figures, measurements, and capacities are approximate and do not constitute specifications. The warranty covers the scooter for repairs or replacement due to manufacturing or material defects for twelve months, with specific durations for frame (3 years) and electronic parts (1 year). Consumable items like upholstery, tyres, and batteries are generally not covered unless defects are manufacturing-related. The warranty is not transferable and requires work to be carried out by an authorized dealer/service agent.
