The ideal compliment to your ducted system when it is impractical
or prohibitively expensive to use ductwork.
INDUSTRY LEADING
FEATURES / BENEFITS
AN INEXPENSIVE AND CREATIVE
SOLUTION TO DESIGN PROBLEMS.
The 38HDF(QRF) / 40KMC (KMQ) series duct--free split systems
are a matched combination of an outdoor condensing unit and an
indoor fan coil unit connected only by refrigerant tubing and wires.
The in--ceiling cassette fan coils are ideal for retrofit or
modernization projects where a false ceiling is available. This
selection of fan coils permits inexpensive and creative solutions to
design problems such as:
S Add--ons to current space where the existing system
cannot handle the load.
S Special space requirements. like a conference room,
where the load varies.
These compact in--ceiling cassette units require less than 12 inches
(304.8 mm) of false ceiling space and the only part that is seen is
an aesthetically pleasing grille that blends with most decor.

How to troubleshoot Carrier 38QRF Air Conditioner compressor and fan not starting?
    • B
      Brittany HernandezAug 3, 2025
If the compressor and fan of your Carrier Air Conditioner's outdoor unit won't start, first, ensure the unit is energized by checking the main power connection. Then, verify that the main switch is in the ON position and that the main switch fuses are not blown; replace them if necessary. If the compressor cycling protection is active, wait for 3 minutes. Also, check that the main power voltage is correct and that all electrical connections are secure and properly connected.

Why does my Carrier Air Conditioner compressor keep running?
    • B
      benjamin21Aug 7, 2025
If the compressor in your Carrier Air Conditioner runs continuously, it could be due to several reasons. First, check if the indoor temperature setting is too low or too high. A faulty outdoor unit fan could also be the cause, requiring replacement. Additionally, obstructions at the air intake or dirty indoor unit filters can lead to this issue; remove any obstructions and clean the filter. In some cases, the unit may be too small for the application requirements, and you should contact a qualified service technician for a system evaluation. Air or other non-condensable gasses in the circuit can also cause this issue, requiring you to drain refrigerant, evacuate and recharge the system.

What to do if Carrier Air Conditioner discharge pressure is too high?
    • M
      Mary HarrisAug 12, 2025
If the discharge pressure of your Carrier Air Conditioner is too high, it could be due to a dirty or obstructed outdoor coil; clean or remove any obstructions. A faulty condenser fan can also cause this issue, requiring replacement. Additionally, an incorrect indoor temperature setting could be the problem, so check and adjust it as needed. Air or other non-condensable gasses in the circuit might also be the cause, necessitating draining the refrigerant, evacuating, and recharging the system.

Why is the suction pressure too low on my Carrier 38QRF?
    • S
      Samuel StoneAug 16, 2025
If the suction pressure of your Carrier Air Conditioner is too low, first check the indoor temperature setting to ensure it is appropriately adjusted. The issue might also stem from an evaporator coil covered with ice, indicating insufficient air circulation that needs checking and repair. Additionally, a clogged expansion device or suction line could be responsible, requiring inspection and repair. Inspect the electrical parts to ensure the outdoor fan stops during defrost periods.

What causes low discharge pressure in Carrier 38QRF Air Conditioner?
    • J
      Jessica MillerAug 20, 2025
If the discharge pressure of your Carrier Air Conditioner is too low, check the indoor temperature setting. It might be set too high or too low. Also, make sure the outdoor coil isn't dirty or obstructed; clean it if necessary. A dirty indoor unit air filter can also cause this issue; clean the filter to resolve it.

    • B
      Brad SmithAug 29, 2025
If the suction pressure of your Carrier Air Conditioner is too high, first check the indoor temperature setting. It might be set too high or too low. A faulty reversing valve or an internal leak could also be the cause, requiring replacement of the reversing valve.

Why does my Carrier 38QRF Air Conditioner compressor stop due to over-temperature?
    • M
      Matthew AcostaNov 24, 2025
If your Carrier Air Conditioner's compressor stops due to over-temperature, it could be due to several reasons. The compressor might be burnt out, seized, or the protection device may be activated; check for the cause and replace the compressor if needed. An incorrect refrigerant charge (either excessive or low), or the presence of air or other non-condensable gasses in the circuit can also cause this; in such cases, drain the refrigerant, evacuate, and recharge the system. Ensure that you do not vent refrigerant to the atmosphere and use refrigerant recovery equipment. Also, check if the main voltage is too high or too low and adjust it if necessary. Inspect the condenser coil for obstructions and remove them. If the outdoor fan is off, determine the cause and resume operation or repair i...
