Overview

This document is the Owner's Manual for the 45MBDAQ Ducted Unit Ductless System, covering sizes 06K-60K. It provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the air conditioning unit.

Function Description:

The 45MBDAQ system is a ducted unit ductless air conditioning system designed to provide quiet, maximum comfort. It offers cooling and/or heating functionalities, and when matched with an outdoor condensing unit, it also filters and dehumidifies the room air. The system is controlled wirelessly via a remote control, which allows users to select various operating modes and adjust settings.

Operating Modes:

The indoor unit supports five operating modes:

  • FAN Only: Filters and circulates room air without changing temperature.
  • AUTO: Automatically cools or heats the room based on the user-selected set point. For multi-zone applications, AUTO CHANGEOVER can set an indoor unit to STANDBY mode if other units are in a different mode (HEATING is priority).
  • HEATING (Heat Pump models only): Heats and filters the room air.
  • COOLING: Cools, dries, and filters the room air.
  • DEHUMIDIFICATION (DRY): Dries, filters, and slightly cools the room air. This mode prioritizes dehumidification but is not a substitute for a dedicated dehumidifier.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant: R-454B, a flammable refrigerant (Safety Group A2L). Handling instructions must be followed carefully in compliance with national regulations. Repairs should only be performed by trained service personnel.
  • Temperature Range: The operating temperature range for units is 60-86°F (16-30°C) for cooling/heating, and 68-82°F (20-28°C) for specific models. Temperature can be adjusted in 1°F (0.5°C) increments.
  • Fan Speed: Selectable from AU (Auto) to 100% in increments of 1%. Fan speed cannot be adjusted in AUTO or DRY mode.
  • Remote Control Range: Up to 26 ft. (8 m) without obstructions.
  • Power: Requires two AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries for the remote control. Average battery life is about 6 months.
  • Auto Leak Detection System: Installed in units. When a refrigerant leak is detected, the indoor unit displays an error code, emits a buzzing sound, the outdoor compressor stops, and the indoor fan runs. The refrigerant sensor has a service life of 15 years. Malfunctioning sensors display FHCC error code and must be replaced by the manufacturer.

Usage Features:

  • Wireless Remote Controller: Allows control of ON/OFF, mode selection, temperature set point, fan speed, and airflow direction.
  • Temperature Display: Can be toggled between °C and °F by pressing TEMP UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  • FREEZE Protection (Heating Set Back): In HEAT mode, setting the setpoint to 60°F (16°C) and pressing the down arrow twice within two seconds activates a 46°F (8°C) heating function. The indoor unit display shows FP.
  • Self Clean Function (Heat Pump models only): After COOLING or DRYING mode, pressing "Self Clean" runs the indoor unit in FAN ONLY mode, then low heat, then FAN ONLY again to dry the unit and prevent mold.
  • ECO/GEAR Function (COOL mode only):
    • ECO: Automatically adjusts temperature to 75°F/24°C and fan speed to AUTO to save energy (if set temperature is below 75°F/24°C).
    • GEAR: Allows selection of 75% or 50% electrical energy consumption.
  • BOOST Function: In COOL mode, blows cool air with the strongest wind. In HEAT mode, blows heat air with the strongest wind. For units with electric heat, activates the electric heater.
  • Fireplace Operation (Heating/Auto heating mode only): Activated by pressing BOOST for more than 5 seconds. Stops by pressing for more than 3 seconds. Displays "On" or "OF" for 3 seconds.
  • CLEAN Function: Activates Active Clean Technology, which freezes and thaws the heat exchanger to remove dust, mold, and grease. Displays "CL" and automatically turns off after 20-45 minutes.
  • SILENCE Function: Activated/disabled by pressing FAN button for more than 2 seconds. Reduces compressor frequency for quieter operation, but may reduce cooling/heating capacity.
  • FP Function (Heat Pump models only): Activated by pressing the button twice within one second in HEAT mode with a setting of 16°C/60°F. Operates at high fan speed with temperature set to 8°C/46°F.
  • BREEZE AWAY Function (Cool, Fan, Dry modes only): Avoids direct airflow by adjusting the louvers, creating a "silky coolness."
  • TIMER ON/OFF: Allows setting the unit to automatically turn on or off after a specified time (increments of 30 minutes up to 10 hours, then 1 hour up to 24 hours).
  • SWING Function: Controls horizontal louver movement. Holding for 2 seconds activates vertical louver auto swing (for units with this feature). Repeated presses allow setting five different airflow directions.
  • LED Display Control: Pressing the LED button turns the indoor unit's LED display and buzzer on/off. Holding for more than 5 seconds displays the actual room temperature, then reverts to the setting temperature if pressed again for more than 5 seconds.
  • SLEEP Function: Decreases energy use during sleep by adjusting temperature settings. Not available in FAN or DRY mode.
  • FOLLOW ME Function: Enables the remote control to measure ambient temperature at its location and send it to the unit every 3 minutes, optimizing comfort in AUTO, COOL, or HEAT modes. Activated/stopped by pressing OK for 3 seconds after selecting Follow Me via the SET button.
  • AP Mode: For wireless network configuration. Can be entered by pressing the LED button seven times in 10 seconds if not working via the SET button.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning Your Indoor Unit:
    • Always turn off the AC system and disconnect power before cleaning.
    • Use a soft, dry cloth; for dirty units, a cloth soaked in warm water.
    • DO NOT use chemicals, paint thinner, benzene, polishing powder, or solvents.
    • DO NOT use water hotter than 104°F (40°C) on the front panel.
    • Filter cleaning/replacement requires turning off the unit and disconnecting power. Performed by a certified technician.
    • Avoid touching metal parts inside the unit when removing filters.
    • DO NOT use water to clean the inside of the indoor unit.
    • DO NOT expose filters to direct sunlight when drying.
  • Pre-Season Inspection: Before periods of frequent use, check for damaged wires, leaks, and ensure air inlets/outlets are not blocked.
  • Long Periods of Non-Use: Turn off the unit, disconnect power, and run the FAN function until the unit dries out completely.
  • Professional Maintenance: Any maintenance, cleaning of the outdoor unit, or unit repairs should be performed by an authorized dealer or licensed service provider.

Safety Precautions:

  • The manual uses symbols for DANGER (severe personal injury or death), WARNING (personal injury or death), and CAUTION (minor personal injury or product/property damage).
  • Warnings regarding flammable refrigerant (R-454B) emphasize careful handling, repair by trained personnel only, and not puncturing tubing.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised. Children should be supervised to prevent play with the appliance.
  • In case of issues like damaged power cord, burning odor, loud/abnormal sounds, frequent circuit breaker trips, or water/objects falling into the unit, turn off the unit immediately and contact an authorized service provider. DO NOT attempt self-repair.
