tonsthatarespringloadedagainstacommoneccentric
shaft.Inonerevolutionofthepumpshafteachpistonhas
completedapumpingcycle.Eachpistonisspringloaded
topushthepistonagainsttherotarycouplingontheec-
centricshaft.
Eachpumpingelementhasaninletvalveandanoutlet
valve.Thevalvesactascheckvalves;theinletvalve
allowslowpressurefuelthatismeteredbytheregulator
valvetointerthepumpingchamberwhiletheoutletvalve
onlyallowsthefueltoexitthepumpingchamberandgo
tothecommonrail.
