SHIMMING
Foreachadjustmentoperation,selectadjustingshimsandmeasureindividuallyusingamicrometer,thenaddup
therecordedvalues.Donotrelyonmeasuringtheentireshimmingset,whichmaybeincorrect,ortheratedvalue
indicatedoneachshim.
ROTATINGSHAFTSEALS
Forcorrectrotatingshaftsealinstallation,proceedasfollows:
•
beforeassembly,allowthesealtosoakintheoilitwillbesealingforatleastthirtyminutes
•
thoroughlycleantheshaftandcheckthattheworkingsurfaceontheshaftisnotdamaged
•
positionthesealinglipfacingtheuid;withhydrodynamiclips,takeintoconsiderationtheshaftrotationdirection
andpositionthegroovessothattheywilldeviatetheuidtowardstheinnersideoftheseal
•
coatthesealinglipwithathinlayeroflubricant(useoilratherthangrease)andllthegapbetweenthesealing
lipandthedustlipondoublelipsealswithgrease
•
insertthesealinitsseatandpressdownusingaatpunch,donottapthesealwithahammerormallet
•
whilstinsertingtheseal,checkthatitisperpendiculartotheseat;oncesettled,makesurethatitmakescontact
withthethrustelement,ifrequired
•
topreventdamagingtheseallipontheshaft,positionaprotectiveguardduringinstallationoperations
O-RINGSEALS
LubricatetheO-RINGsealsbeforeinsertingthemintheseats,thiswillpreventthemfromoverturningandtwisting,
whichwouldjeopardizesealingefciency.
SEALINGCOMPOUNDS
Onlyusethesealantswhicharerecommendedinthismanual!Beforeapplyingthesealingcompound,prepare
thesurfacesasfollows:
•
removeanyincrustationsusingametalbrush;
•
thoroughlyde-greasethesurfacesusingoneofthefollowingcleaningagents:trichlorethylene,petrolorawater
andsodasolution.
COTTERPINS
Whenttingsplitcotterpins,ensurethatthepinnotchispositionedinthedirectionoftheforcerequiredtostressthe
pin.Spiralcotterpinsdonotrequirespecialpositioning.
