FINGER CRANKSHAFT REPAIR
Due to possible rust and dirt buildup on spline ends
of the individual shafts, two disassembly procedures
are provided.
The Primary Procedure describes disengaging and
engaging the shafts at the fault. This procedure
should be attempted first since it requires the least
amount of disassembly. If attempts to remove or
install the shafts using the primary procedure fail, the
secondary procedure should be followed.
The Secondary Procedure discusses disassembly of
the crankshaft starting at the end of the auger with the
fault, and is divided into “Starting From the Right
Side”, and “Starting From the Left Side”. Individual
shafts are removed until the defective component
can be accessed. This procedure requires the use of
a tow motor or other lifting device to support the
weight of the auger since the shaft at that end must
be removed. If the fault is the center shaft,
disassembly should begin on the right side of the
auger.
