Primary Repair Procedure
1. Determine the location of the fault. Remove the
cover(s), 1, to gain access to the crankshaft.

2. Remove all fingers from the affected section of
crankshaft by withdrawing the hairpin cotters, 1.

3. Clean the spline end of the affected shafts to the
maximum extent possible, and apply a good
quality penetrating fluid. Loosen the clamping
bolts, 1, on both ends of the shafts.
4. Remove the bearing mounting hardware, 2, on
the welded end of the shaft.
5. Loosen the locking collar(s) set screw. Disen-
gage the collar(s), 3, adjacent or connected to
the affected shaft. Move the clamping blocks
away from the shaft being repaired.
6. If sufficient clearance exists, lift the shaft from the
unit and out the access hole. If the clearance is
not enough to allow removal or installation of the
shaft, proceed to the “Secondary Repair
Procedure” section.
