Overview

This document is an operation guide for a CASIO watch, model 3511. It provides comprehensive instructions on how to use the watch's various functions, along with technical specifications and operational tips.

The watch features a Timekeeping Mode, Stopwatch Mode, Recall Mode, Timer Mode, Alarm Mode, and Dual Time Mode. It also includes an illumination feature for low-light conditions and a button operation tone.

Function Description:

Timekeeping Mode:

The Timekeeping Mode allows users to set and view the current time and date. It supports both 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping formats and can toggle between Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Standard Time. The display shows the day of the week, month, day, hour, minute, second, and a PM indicator for the 12-hour format.

  • Setting Time and Date: To set the time and date, users hold down button A until the seconds start flashing, indicating the setting screen. They then use button C to cycle through settings for seconds, DST, hour, minute, day, month, and year. Buttons D (+) and E (-) are used to change the values. Pressing A again exits the setting screen. The day of the week is automatically calculated based on the date settings.
  • 12-hour/24-hour Timekeeping: Pressing button C in Timekeeping Mode toggles between 12-hour and 24-hour formats. In 12-hour format, 'P' indicates PM (noon to 11:59 p.m.) and 'A' indicates AM (midnight to 11:59 a.m.). In 24-hour format, times are displayed from 0:00 to 23:59 without indicators. This setting applies to all other modes.
  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) Setting: To toggle DST, users hold down button A in Timekeeping Mode until the seconds flash. Pressing C once brings up the DST setting screen. Pressing D toggles between 'On' (DST) and 'OF' (Standard Time). Pressing A exits the setting screen. The DST indicator appears on Timekeeping and Alarm Mode screens when DST is on.

Stopwatch Mode:

The stopwatch measures elapsed time, lap times, split times, and two finishes. It has a display range of 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds. Lap times and split times can be stored in memory.

  • Measuring Elapsed Time: From the all-zeros stopwatch display, press D to start the stopwatch and D again to stop it. Press E to clear the stopwatch to all zeros. The measurement continues even if the user exits Stopwatch Mode.
  • Measuring Elapsed Time with Lap Times: From the all-zeros stopwatch display, press E to display the lap time screen (indicated by LAP). Press D to start measurement. Press E to record the time of the first lap. The current lap time freezes in the upper display for about eight seconds, while total elapsed time and the next lap time continue internally. The lap number appears in the lower display. After eight seconds, the ongoing elapsed time reappears. Repeat pressing E to record more lap times. Press D to stop, then E to clear. Lap numbers increment automatically from 1 to 99, then restart from 00.
  • Measuring Elapsed Time with Split Times: From the all-zeros stopwatch display, press E to display the split time screen (indicated by SPL). Press D to start measurement. Press E to record the time of the first split. The current split time appears in the lower display for about eight seconds, while total elapsed time, next lap time, and next split time continue internally. The split number appears in the upper display. After eight seconds, the ongoing lap time measurement appears in the upper display and the ongoing elapsed time measurement appears in the lower display. Repeat pressing E to record more split times. Press D to stop, then E to clear. Split numbers increment automatically from 1 to 99, then restart from 00.
  • Timing First and Second Place Finishes: From the all-zeros stopwatch display, press E to display the split time screen (SPL). Press D to start measurement. Press E when the first finisher crosses the line; their time freezes in the lower display for about eight seconds. Press E when the second finisher crosses the line; their time appears in the lower display, and the difference between first and second appears in the upper display. Press E to clear the stopwatch.

Memory Management (Stopwatch Data):

A new log is created each time D is pressed to start a new elapsed time measurement. Each log contains a title screen and records of all lap or split times. The watch's memory capacity is 60 records. If memory becomes full, adding a new record automatically deletes the oldest log and its records.

Recall Mode:

The Recall Mode allows users to recall and delete logs and records stored in Stopwatch Mode. It can view both lap and split time records.

  • Recalling Stopwatch Time Records: From the all-zeros stopwatch display, select either the lap time screen or split time screen using E. Press C to enter Recall Mode. Use A to scroll through log title screens from newest to oldest. Use D (forward) and E (back) to scroll through records in lap number sequence.
  • Deleting a Log: In Recall Mode, display the title screen of the log to be deleted. Hold down C until 'CLR' stops flashing. This deletes the log and all its records. Deleting a log shifts newer logs up, reducing their log numbers by 1.

Timer Mode:

The countdown timer can be set from one minute to 24 hours. An alarm sounds when the countdown reaches zero. Auto-repeat can be selected to automatically restart the countdown from the original value.

  • Using the Countdown Timer: Press D to start the countdown. When the countdown ends and auto-repeat is off, the alarm sounds for 10 seconds or until any button is pressed, and the timer resets to its starting value. If auto-repeat is on, the countdown restarts automatically without pausing when it reaches zero, and the alarm sounds. The timer continues to run even if the user exits Timer Mode. Press D to pause, and D again to resume. To stop completely, pause with D, then press E.
  • Configuring Countdown Start Time and Auto-Repeat: While the countdown start time is displayed, hold down A until the hour setting flashes. Press C to cycle through settings for start time (hours), start time (minutes), and auto-repeat on/off. Use D (+) and E (-) to change the start time (0:00 for 24 hours). Press D to toggle auto-repeat on (On) or off (OF). Press A to exit. The auto-repeat on indicator (3) appears when the function is on.

Alarm Mode:

The watch supports up to three independent multi-function alarms with hour, minutes, month, and day settings. Alarm 1 has a snooze feature. An Hourly Time Signal can also be turned on.

  • Alarm Types:
    • Daily alarm: Set hour and minutes. Sounds daily.
    • Date alarm: Set month, day, hour, and minutes. Sounds on the specific date.
    • 1-Month alarm: Set month, hour, and minutes. Sounds daily during the specified month.
    • Monthly alarm: Set day, hour, and minutes. Sounds monthly on the specified day.
  • Setting an Alarm Time: In Alarm Mode, use E to scroll through alarm screens (1 through 3) and the Hourly Time Signal screen (:00). Alarm 1 has a snooze feature that repeats every five minutes. After selecting an alarm, hold down A until the hour setting flashes. Press C to cycle through settings for hour, minute, month, and day. Use D (+) and E (-) to change values. For daily or monthly alarms, set '-' for month. For daily or 1-month alarms, set '-' for day. Press A to exit.
  • Alarm Operation: The alarm sounds for about 10 seconds. If snooze is on for Alarm 1, it sounds seven times, every five minutes, until turned off. Pressing any button stops the alarm tone.
  • Testing the Alarm: In Alarm Mode, hold down D to sound the alarm.
  • Selecting Alarm 1 Operation: In Alarm Mode, use E to select Alarm 1. Press A to cycle through 'Alarm on', 'Snooze feature on', and 'Alarm off'. The alarm on indicator is displayed in all modes when an alarm is on. The snooze indicator flashes when the snooze alarm is sounding and during the 5-minute intervals.
  • Turning Alarms 2 and 3 On and Off: In Alarm Mode, use E to select alarm 2 or 3. Press D to toggle the alarm on or off. The alarm on indicator is displayed when an alarm is on.
  • Turning the Hourly Time Signal On and Off: In Alarm Mode, use E to select the Hourly Time Signal (:00). Press D to toggle the signal on or off. The hourly time signal on indicator is displayed when it is on.

Dual Time Mode:

The Dual Time Mode tracks time in a different time zone. It can be set to Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time. The seconds count is synchronized with the Timekeeping Mode.

  • Setting the Dual Time: Press C to enter Dual Time Mode. Hold down A until the DST setting flashes. Press C to cycle through settings for DST, hour, and minute. Use D (+) and E (-) to change values. Press D to toggle DST on/off. Press A to exit. The DST indicator appears on the Dual Time Mode screen when DST is on.

Illumination:

An LED (light-emitting diode) illuminates the watch face for easy reading in the dark.

  • Illuminating the Display: In any mode, press B to turn on illumination.
  • Specifying Illumination Duration: In Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the seconds flash. While seconds are flashing, press D to toggle between 1.5 seconds (-) and 3 seconds (=). Press A to exit.

Button Operation Tone:

The button operation tone sounds whenever a button is pressed. It can be turned on or off.

  • Turning Button Operation Tone On/Off: In any mode (except when a setting screen is on), hold down E to toggle the tone on (mute indicator not displayed) or off (mute indicator displayed). Holding E also changes the current mode. The mute indicator is displayed in all modes when the tone is off.
