The CGX Quick-20r is a wireless, battery-operated EEG headset designed for research and development efforts. It is not an FDA-approved medical device. The device is intended to acquire electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and transmit them wirelessly to a computer.

Function Description:

The Quick-20r utilizes dry sensor technology for EEG acquisition. Its channel positions are arranged in a 10-20 montage, supplemented by two variable-placement ExG channels. The headset provides an integrated approach to wireless acquisition of EEG signals, allowing subjects to move freely while real-time data is collected and displayed. It is designed to obtain high-quality EEG with minimal scalp preparation. Patented mechanisms and replaceable dry sensors align to various head shapes and sizes, maintaining sensor positions in a standard montage. The EEG channels are sampled at a time resolution of 500Hz and converted to digital data at 24 bits of resolution. The Quick-20r delivers research-grade signal quality, making it suitable for general-purpose EEG and ERP research in both laboratory and field environments.

Usage Features:

Headset Design: The Quick-20r fits most adult head sizes (52-62 cm circumference). It uses dry sensors, eliminating the need for conductive gels, which allows for faster setup and no after-use cleanup.
Sensor Types: Drypad sensors are used for direct skin contact in hairless areas (forehead, bald areas), while Flex sensors are designed to penetrate hair for high-quality scalp contact. Dedicated Drypad sensors are used with earclips.
Earclips: The A1 earclip (left ear) has two sensor locations (Reference and Ground). The A2 earclip (right ear) is used in linked-ears configurations. Active and passive lead wires connect these to the headset.
ExG Channels: Two variable-placement ExG channels allow for additional biometric data acquisition.
Battery Operation: Uses two AA Alkaline or NiMH batteries. Battery status is indicated by LEDs on the amplifier (Green for On, Yellow for Low Battery, Red for Critically Low Battery).
Bluetooth Dongle: A high-speed receiver dongle plugs into a computer's USB port. Each Quick-20r is permanently paired to a specific dongle, automatically connecting within a 10m range when powered on. The dongle's indicator light shows its status (Green for Power On/Not Paired, Purple for Searching, Blue for Device Found, Flashing Blue for Data Transmitting).
Software Integration: The CGX Acquisition software (Windows only) allows for device connection, data streaming, and impedance checks.
Optimal Sensor Contact: The headset features impedance-level LEDs on each sensor pod, with a threshold of 2,500 KΩ, to assist in making proper scalp contact. The software provides a color-coded impedance map.
Data Recording: The software allows users to record data (CSV files with time stamps), stop recordings, and integrate with LabStreamingLayer and BCI2000 via an RDA Server. A timer feature can limit recording length.
Display Options: The display tab in the software controls scaling (time window, EEG/accelerometer gain), channel display, filtering (high pass/low pass for display only; raw data is saved unfiltered), and masking of high-impedance channels.
Triggering: The Markers tab displays received triggers chronologically and allows for manual trigger insertion for general annotation. It also supports TCP triggers for external event marking.
Status Monitoring: The Status tab provides information on data rate, compression ratio, lost packets, and battery level.
Donning Instructions: Detailed steps are provided for placing the headset, adjusting earclips, positioning sensors (e.g., Fp1 and Fp2 1cm above eyebrows), and ensuring firm contact, especially at Cz. Subjects should be in an upright position during EEG recordings.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning: Sensors should be cleaned with hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes after each session. Sensor pods and legs should also be cleaned with alcohol wipes. The device is not intended for sterilization in an autoclave.
Sensor Replacement: Sensors should be replaced at or before their stated lifecycle limits (200 uses for Drypad and Flex sensors) or if they appear worn.
Battery Management: Batteries should be removed when the headset is not in use.
Storage: The headset should be placed upside down on a tabletop or in its supplied carrying case. For long-term storage, it is recommended to place it on a mannequin head for several hours to prevent compression of the legs, which could make it excessively tight on larger heads.
Disposal: Users should follow local laws and policies for electronic and battery disposal. The headset can also be returned to CGX for proper disposal.
Warranty: The Quick-20r headset comes with a 3-year warranty on manufacturing defects and a 90-day warranty on accessories and disposable parts. The warranty is void if the device is opened or tampered with.
Returns: All returns for repair or assessment require an RA number issued by CGX. CGX covers outbound shipping costs for returns.
