What to do if the Chicago Electric Power Tool's power cord GFCI trips?
    • R
      reidjosephAug 1, 2025
If the GFCI trips when the unit is plugged in or the foot pedal is pressed, there are several potential causes: * A defective Motor Direction Switch. * A frayed Power Cord. * A short circuit in the Motor. * Excess moisture touching the Power Cord or Drain Cleaner. * A faulty GFCI unit. Suggested solutions include repairing or replacing the Motor Direction Switch or Power Cord, having the motor repaired or replaced by a qualified technician, removing any moisture, or replacing the Power Cord with GFCI.

Why does the Chicago Electric Power Tool cable kink, twist, or break?
    • D
      dixoncassidyAug 7, 2025
The cable may kink, twist, or break due to: 1. Applying too much force on the cable; let the cutter tool do the work, and don't force the cable. 2. Having too much slack between the Drain Cleaner and the drainpipe inlet; move the Drain Cleaner to within two feet of the drainpipe inlet. 3. Using the wrong size cable for the drain pipe; change the cable size. 4. Exposing the cable to acid; clean and oil the cable regularly. 5. The cable being worn out; replace the cable.

What to do if Chicago Electric Power Tool cable does not feed when the Foot Pedal is pressed?
    • K
      Kayla DavisAug 13, 2025
If the cable does not feed when the Foot Pedal is pressed, it could be due to: 1. The cable being tangled in the Drum; do not run the Motor in reverse, unplug the Drain Cleaner and manually pull the cable out until the tangle is cleared. 2. Incorrect feed tension; adjust the feed tension Star Knob (44-13). If the Knob is too loose, the cable will slip, and if it's too tight, the rollers will wear prematurely. 3. A frozen feed roller; clean and lubricate the feed rollers, and replace worn rollers. 4. The cable being worn out; when the cable coils wear flat, it should be replaced.

What to do if Chicago Electric Power Tool motor cuts off during use?
    • T
      Timothy MillsAug 20, 2025
The motor may have been shut off by its internal thermal protection switch or auto reset breaker. To resolve this, turn the motor off, allow it to cool off completely before restarting, and stay clear of the cable when turning the motor back on.
