Why is my Chicago Electric 68696 overheating?
    • J
      John WilliamsAug 5, 2025
Your Chicago Electric Power Tool may be overheating due to several reasons. You might be forcing the tool to work too fast, so allow it to work at its own pace. The motor housing vents could be blocked; wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and a NIOSH-approved dust mask/respirator while blowing dust out of the motor using compressed air. Also, a lengthy or small diameter extension cord may be straining the motor. Try eliminating the extension cord or using one with the proper diameter for its length and load.

What to do if my Chicago Electric 68696 Power Tool will not start?
    • S
      Stacey MuellerAug 10, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Power Tool won't start, first check that the cord is plugged into a 120V outlet. Next, verify that there is power at the outlet. If the outlet is unpowered, turn off the tool and check the circuit breaker. If the breaker is tripped, ensure the circuit is the right capacity for the tool and has no other loads. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the tool may have internal damage or wear, and you should have a technician service it.

Why does my Chicago Electric 68696 operate slowly?
    • H
      hansondavidAug 15, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Power Tool is operating slowly, it could be due to a few reasons. First, check if the tool is set on a slow speed setting and increase it if necessary. Second, you might be applying excess pressure to the workpiece; decrease the pressure and allow the tool to do the work. Finally, the power might be reduced by a too lengthy or small diameter extension cord. Try eliminating the use of an extension cord, or if needed, use one with the proper diameter for its length and load.
