What to do if my Chicago Electric Portable Generator engine will not start?
- CCharles KnightJul 28, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Portable Generator's engine won't start, several fuel-related issues could be the cause. It could be due to an improper gasoline/2-cycle oil mix, an empty fuel tank, or a closed fuel valve. Ensure you're using a fresh 89+ octane unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle oil mixture at a ratio of 50:1. Also, check if the choke is in the start position, especially if the engine is cold. Prime the carburetor and clean out any dirty fuel passageways. If the carburetor needle is stuck, gently tap the side of the carburetor float chamber. In case of too much fuel in the chamber, turn the choke to the run position, remove the spark plug, and pull the start handle several times to air out the chamber before reinstalling the spark plug and setting the choke to start.
