Overview

This document is an operation manual for CHiQ refrigerator models FBM205L4, FBM205L42, and FBM260L. It provides essential information on the product's basic knowledge, usage, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting methods.

Function Description

The refrigerator is designed for food storage and preservation, featuring electronic temperature control to maintain optimal conditions. It includes a refrigerator compartment for fresh food and a freezer compartment for frozen items. The temperature settings can be adjusted based on ambient conditions, with recommended modes for different seasons to ensure efficient operation and food freshness. A "Fast Cool" function is available to rapidly lower both refrigerator and freezer temperatures, preserving food quality.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Models: FBM205L4, FBM205L42, FBM260L
  • Refrigerant: R600a (Freon-free, environmentally friendly, low global warming impact, non-ozone depleting). R600a is flammable and sealed within the refrigeration system, designed for normal use without leakage. In case of damage to the refrigerant circuit, ensure ventilation and keep away from open flames.
  • Insulation Material: Cyclopentane (foaming insulation material, environmentally friendly).
  • Electrical Requirements: 220-240V AC, 50/60Hz, three-pin earthed plug. The appliance must be properly grounded to prevent electric shock.
  • Climate Classes: The manual specifies climate classes (SN, N, ST, T) indicating the optimal ambient temperature ranges for the refrigerator's operation:
    • SN: +10°C to +32°C
    • N: +16°C to +32°C
    • ST: +16°C to +38°C
    • T: +16°C to +43°C
    • Internal temperatures may vary based on appliance location, ambient temperature, and door opening frequency.
  • Dimensions (mm):
    • For 540x550x1440 (WxDxH) models: A=910, B=1055, C=135, E=50, F=100
    • For 540x550x1760 (WxDxH) models: A=910, B=1055, C=135, E=50, F=100
    • These dimensions are for space requirement diagrams.
  • Compressor Warranty: A 12-year warranty applies to the compressor (for spare parts only).

Usage Features

  • Installation:
    • Place the refrigerator on a solid, flat surface to prevent vibrations and noise.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance: at least 300mm above, 100mm on both sides, and 50mm at the rear.
    • Avoid placing near heat sources (cookers, boilers, radiators) or in direct sunlight.
    • Wait at least 4 hours after positioning before switching on to allow the refrigerant to settle.
  • Temperature Control:
    • The temperature is controlled via a panel in the refrigerator compartment.
    • Recommended settings: Mode 5-8 for normal conditions (spring/autumn), Mode 2-4 for high ambient temperatures (summer) to prolong operation, and Mode 2-4 for low ambient temperatures (winter) to prevent frequent starts/stops.
    • "Fast Cool" function for rapid cooling, lasting up to 26 hours, after which it reverts to the previous setting.
  • Food Storage:
    • Fresh Food Compartment: Suitable for non-frozen items like cooked food, beer, eggs, condiments, milk, fruit juice, etc. The crisper drawer is for vegetables and fruits.
    • Freezer Compartment: Ideal for ice cream, pre-frozen foods, and items for long-term storage. Large fish and meat should be cut into small pieces and packed before freezing.
    • Tips:
      • Cool hot food to ambient temperature before placing in the refrigerator.
      • Do not store carbonated drinks or glass containers with liquid in the freezer to prevent bursting.
      • Pack food in appropriate, dry, air- and water-impermeable, non-toxic, and pollution-free materials to avoid cross-contamination and odor transfer.
      • Do not overload compartments; ensure adequate space between items for cold air circulation.
      • Store daily-use items at the front for easy access.
      • Use frozen food to help cool fresh food, saving energy.
  • Reversible Door: The appliance features a reversible door, allowing users to change the door swing direction to suit their kitchen layout. Detailed instructions are provided for this process, involving the removal and reinstallation of hinges and door stoppers.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Regular Cleaning: The refrigerator should be cleaned regularly (fresh food compartment monthly) to prevent odors from food residuals.
    • Internal Cleaning: Remove all shelves, crisper boxes, bottle racks, covers, and drawers. Clean with a soft cloth or sponge dipped in warm water and neutral detergent. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry.
    • External Cleaning: Regularly clear dust from the rear panel and side plates.
    • Door Gasket: Carefully wipe dry and clean the groove with a cotton-wrapped wooden chopstick. Secure the four corners of the gasket first, then embed it segment by segment into the door groove.
    • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use bristle brushes, steel wire brushes, abrasive detergents, soap powder, alkaline detergents, benzene, gasoline, acid, hot water, or other corrosive/soluble items on the cabinet surface, door gasket, or plastic decorative parts.
  • Defrosting:
    • A thin layer of frost (over 5mm) on the freezer compartment's inner wall or evaporator can affect refrigeration efficiency.
    • Defrosting should be done approximately every 3 months, or when normal use of drawers and food access is affected.
    • Procedure: Remove frozen food, disconnect power, open the door, and gently scrape frost with a plastic scraper. To speed up thawing, place a bowl of hot water inside the freezer. After defrosting, clean the interior and switch the power back on.
  • LED Lamp Replacement: The LED lamp is energy-efficient and long-lasting. If it malfunctions, contact after-sales service.
  • Troubleshooting: A simple fault analysis and elimination guide is provided for common issues like no cooling, abnormal noise, poor refrigeration, and strange odors, allowing users to attempt self-resolution before contacting technical support.
  • Safe Recovery/Disposal:
    • Old appliances contain valuable raw materials and refrigerants that require special handling.
    • Ensure no pipe damage on the back of the equipment before handling.
    • Contact local municipal offices for information on disposal options.
    • The product is marked for separate collection within the EU to promote sustainable reuse and prevent environmental harm from uncontrolled waste disposal.
