Why is my Cisco Switch performing poorly and showing excessive errors?
- OomannJul 26, 2025
Poor performance and excessive errors on your Cisco Switch can stem from several causes. One potential reason is a duplex autonegotiation mismatch. Another cause may be exceeding cabling distance limits or port statistics indicating excessive frame check sequence (FCS), late-collision, or alignment errors. For 10/100BASE-TX connections, ensure the distance between the port and the device is within 328 feet (100 meters), and for SFP port connections, adhere to SFP cabling guidelines. A bad adapter in the attached device or STP checking for possible loops can also lead to these issues. Run the adapter card diagnostic utility or wait 30 seconds for the port LED to turn green.
