Unscrew the spark plug (25) using a spark
plug spanner
.
Check the electrode for discolouration.
Standard colour: light brown
Check the electrode distance with a feeler
gauge. Correct distance: 0,457-0,61 mm
Cleaning the spark plug
NOTICE! Risk of product damage!
To clean the spark plug, use only wire
brushes with brass bristles. Bristles of
any other material will damage the
electrode!
Remove rust from the electrode with a
wire brush.
Replacing the spark plug
NOTICE! Risk of product damage!
Fit the spark plug only when motor is
cold.
Insert a cleaned or new spark plug and
tighten by hand.
Hand-tighten the screwed-in spark plug,
then use the spark plug wrench to firmly
tighten by another quarter turn, tightening
any more will damage the threads.
Replace the spark plug connector (13)
firmly on the spark plug.
Storage and transport
Storage
DANGER! Risk of injury! Store the
product so that it cannot be started up
by unauthorised persons.
Ensure that nobody can injure them-
selves on the product while it is sta-
tionary.
NOTICE! Risk of product damage!
Do not store the product unprotected
in a humid environment.
Clean the product prior to storage.
Store the product in a dry, well-ventilated
place.
Transport
Use the original packaging to ship when-
ever possible.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn’t work…
DANGER! Risk of injury! Improper
repairs can result in the product func-
tioning unsafely. This endangers
yourself and your environment.
Malfunctions are often caused by minor
faults. You can easily remedy most of these
yourself. Please consult the following table
before contacting the vendor. You will save
yourself a lot of trouble and possibly money
too.
Fault/malfunction Cause Remedy
Motor does not start. Tank empty? Filling with fuel – p. 42
Ignition cable connector
loose?
Push the connector firmly onto
the spark plug.
Spark plug contaminated? Cleaning/replacing the
spark plug – p. 44
Spark plug defective?
Excess fuel in the combustion
chamber?
Take out the spark plug and dry
the electrode.
Distance from electrode to
spark plug too great?
Set gap at 0,457-0,61mm.
Incorrect fuel? Drain tank and fill up with the
correct fuel.
Motor misfires when running Air filter contaminated? Replacing the air filter –
p. 44
Motor does not reach the max-
imum speed
Spark plug contaminated? Cleaning/replacing the
spark plug – p. 44
Distance from electrode to
spark plug too great?
Set gap at 0,457-0,61mm.
