2 Sound Processor
Clinician’s Quick Guide
Wear the sound processor
To achieve the optimal hearing outcome, it is important that you
show recipients how to correctly place the Cochlear
Osia
®
2 Sound
Processor on their implant.
To reduce the risk of losing the sound processor, you can use the
Safety Line or Cochlear Headband. See the Osia 2 Sound Processor
User Manual for details.
CAUTION: It is important to position the sound processor
correctly to get the best performance.
Selecting magnet strength
Selecting the magnet strength is key to effective retention of the
sound processor. If a magnet is too weak, the processor may fall off
the head. If it is too strong, the recipient can experience discomfort
or skin irritation. Magnet strength ranges from 1 (weakest) to
4 (strongest).
Magnet selection can be affected by several factors:
skin flap thickness
use of a Cochlear SoftWear
Pad
(for recipient comfort)
use of retention aids (e.g. Cochlear Headband, Safety Line)
thickness of the recipient’s hair

Inserting and removing a magnet
To insert a magnet
1
Use the magnet tool to pick up the magnet. To couple it correctly make
sure that the gripping edges in the tool are aligned with the notches in the
magnet.
2
Insert the magnet into the sound processor and turn clockwise to lock in
to place.
To remove a magnet
3
Place the magnet tool over the magnet.
4
Turn counter-clockwise to loosen the magnet.
5
Lift the magnet and pull out.
WARNING: Changing to a stronger magnet may cause a sensation
of pressure or skin irritation. To relieve this you can attach a Cochlear
SoftWear Pad to the back of the sound processor. See the Osia 2
Sound Processor User Manual for details.
