Overview

The LDHD2AZW is a door/window sensor designed for residential security systems, offering perimeter protection and integration with various home automation services. It consists of a sensor and a magnet, which communicate door or window events to a home security system. When the magnet moves away from the sensor, a signal is sent to the control panel, indicating a change in state. This signal can also be used to activate a chime or convenience lighting, depending on system settings. The device is intended for indoor use only and is compatible with the Technicolor TCHT2AA0 Touch Screen.

    • Spacer: 3mm and 6mm (0.12" & 0.24")

Usage Features:

Pairing:

Before installation, the LDHD2AZW must be paired with the home controller or security system.

  1. Next to the controller, slide the top cover open to expose the battery pull tab. Pull the plastic tab to activate the sensor, then slide the top cover closed.
  2. The LED indicator will light green for two seconds during device booting.
  3. After booting, the LED will blink green three times every five seconds while scanning for a network.
  4. If no network is found after approximately ten minutes, the sensor enters sleep mode. To restart pairing, tamper the sensor by sliding the battery cover open and closed, or create a zone event by placing the magnet near the sensor and then moving it more than 3" away.
  5. Once discovered by the controller, the sensor needs to be faulted or restored using the magnet to complete enrollment.
  6. After successful pairing, the sensor is ready for installation.

Installation:

The LDHD2AZW is for indoor use only and must be installed on painted wood and steel surfaces for UL applications.

  1. After pairing, the LED will blink red, green, or amber, indicating communication performance. Move the sensor to the intended location. A slow blinking green LED indicates good communication. Double-blinking amber indicates communication is possible but suggests improving it by repositioning the sensor. Fast blinking red means the sensor cannot be installed at that location. The LED illuminates for three minutes after initial pairing; sliding the top cover open and closed will extend this for an additional thirty seconds.
  2. Ensure the sensor and magnet are less than 0.25" apart. For optimal performance, install the LDHD2AZW on the fixed frame and the magnet on the moving part of the door/window. Place the sensor near the top of the door/window, close to the opening edge. Align the marks on the sensor and magnet. Position the sensor's LED at the top if possible, ensuring space to slide open the battery door.
  3. Peel the paper from one side of the double-sided tape, attach it to the back of the sensor, and press firmly. Peel the remaining paper and position the sensor on the door/window fixed frame in a location with good communication. Press firmly with 15 psi for a few seconds.
  4. When mounting the magnet, use spacers if needed to ensure the back of the sensor and magnet are on the same plane. Attach double-sided tape to the back of the magnet or spacer, press firmly, then peel the paper and align the magnet to the sensor, pressing firmly.

Operation:

  1. The LED on the sensor remains off during normal operation.
  2. The sensor has a tamper switch. Sliding the battery cover open will trigger a trouble fault on the home controller. Closing the cover clears the trouble, and a communication test runs for thirty seconds.

Maintenance Features:

Reset to Factory Defaults:

If the sensor needs to be factory defaulted (e.g., for re-joining with a new controller):

  1. Delete the sensor from the home controller or security system's device menus.
  2. Slide the battery cover to expose the battery and the reset release button.
  3. Depress the small reset release button while sliding the battery cover until the red reset text is exposed. A small screwdriver or paper clip may be needed to press the button.
  4. Remove the battery, wait ten seconds, then re-insert it.
  5. Once the battery is installed, wait for the LED to turn green, then immediately slide the battery cover closed.
  6. The factory reset takes approximately one minute, during which the LED remains solid green.
  7. After reset, the LED will blink green three times every five seconds, indicating it's ready to be paired.

Replacing the Battery:

If the home controller indicates a low battery:

  1. Purchase a CR2 Battery.
  2. Slide the battery cover to expose the battery, remove the old battery, wait ten seconds, and install the new one.
  3. Slide the battery cover closed. The LED will illuminate green for two seconds, and the device will automatically reconnect to the home controller and return to normal operation.

Troubleshooting:

Pairing Issues:

  1. Open and close the battery cover to trigger a tamper and restart pairing.
  2. If pairing issues persist, remove the battery for ten seconds and re-insert it.
  3. If issues continue, use the "Reset to Factory Defaults" procedure.

Communication Issues (after initial setup):

  1. If the device has been in use for a long time and failure is sudden, check the controller for a low battery and replace it if necessary.
  2. Trigger a tamper by opening and closing the battery cover. If the LED blinks RED, it indicates the sensor can no longer communicate due to changes in the RF environment. Install a repeater to extend the system's range.
  3. Perform a Factory Reset and re-pair the sensor.

Disconnection from Home Controller:

If the LED remains green or blinks three times every five seconds, it indicates the device has disconnected. To resolve this, delete the device and reinstall it to the home controller. If unable to perform these steps, contact support at 1-800-xfinity.

Certification and Compliance:

The LDHD2AZW certification and compliance statement can be found at XHD2-LD Door/Window Sensor FCC. The LDHD2AZW is compatible with the Technicolor TCHT2AA0 panel.
