Overview

The DT-R08C is a universal remote control designed to operate various electronic devices, primarily televisions and cable boxes. It features two main programming methods: Quick Search and Learning Mode, allowing for broad compatibility with different brands and models. The remote requires two AAA batteries for operation.

Function Description

The primary function of the DT-R08C is to consolidate control of multiple entertainment devices into a single remote. It can be programmed to control a TV, a cable box, or both, reducing the clutter of multiple remotes.

Quick Search Functionality: This method allows users to quickly find the correct remote code for their TV by incrementally cycling through common TV remote codes. It's particularly useful for TVs where the brand or model is unknown or not listed in a code database. The process involves pressing the 'CH+' button repeatedly until the TV responds, indicating that the correct code has been found.

Learning Mode Functionality: This advanced feature enables the DT-R08C to "learn" functions directly from an existing, working remote control. This is ideal for devices that are not compatible with the Quick Search method or for specific functions that may not be covered by pre-programmed codes. It allows for a high degree of customization, letting users assign any function from an original remote to a button on the DT-R08C. This mode is particularly useful when controlling multiple devices, such as a TV and a cable box, as it can learn commands from both original remotes.

Backlight Control: The remote includes a backlight feature for improved visibility in low-light conditions. This backlight can be toggled on or off as needed.

Reset Functionality: A reset feature allows users to revert the remote to its default factory settings, clearing all programmed codes and learned functions. This is useful for troubleshooting or when preparing the remote for use with new devices.

Usage Features

Initial Setup: Before use, ensure two fresh AAA batteries are properly installed. If programming for a cable box, the original working cable box remote is also required.

Quick Search Usage:

  1. Power on your TV.
  2. Press and hold the 'Mute' and 'CH+' buttons simultaneously for five seconds. The indicator light next to the 'Power' button will illuminate, then release both buttons.
  3. Press the 'CH+' button repeatedly. Each press cycles to the next TV remote code, and the LED indicator will flash.
  4. Observe your TV. When the channel changes, you have found the correct code.
  5. Press the 'Mute' button to save the setting.
  6. Verify all buttons perform their desired function. If not, repeat the process. The 'CH-' button can also be used to browse for codes. Note: If a working code cannot be found, the Learning Mode should be used.

Learning Mode Usage:

  1. Ensure you have the original remote control for the device you wish to control (e.g., TV, cable box) and that it is operational.
  2. Press and hold the 'Mute' and 'VOL+' buttons on the DT-R08C until the indicator light next to the 'Power' button illuminates.
  3. Position the front of the DT-R08C and the front of your teaching remote (the original remote) within 2-3 cm of each other, ensuring they are pointed at each other.
  4. On the teaching remote, press the desired function key you wish to learn. The indicator light on the DT-R08C will begin to flash.
  5. While the DT-R08C's indicator light is flashing, press and hold the corresponding key on the DT-R08C for two seconds. The indicator will then remain solid, confirming the function has been learned.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for any additional functions you wish the DT-R08C to learn.
  7. Once all desired functions are learned, press the 'Mute' and 'VOL-' buttons on the DT-R08C. The indicator light will extinguish, and the programming will be saved. Note: If no key is pressed on the DT-R08C within 25 seconds during the learning process, the remote will exit learning mode without saving.

Turning Off the Backlight:

  1. Press and hold the 'Mute' and 'CH-' buttons until the LED indicator flashes three times. The backlight will then turn off.
  2. To re-enable the backlight, repeat step one.

Maintenance Features

Reset to Default Setting:

  1. Press and hold the 'Power' and 'Mute' buttons until the LED indicator illuminates.
  2. Press the 'Mute' button once. The LED light will flash four times and then extinguish, indicating the remote has been reset to its factory defaults.

Troubleshooting:

  • If buttons are not performing their desired function after Quick Search, repeat the process or try Learning Mode.
  • If the remote exits Learning Mode unexpectedly, ensure a key is pressed on the DT-R08C within 25 seconds of pressing a key on the teaching remote.
  • Ensure fresh batteries are used in both the DT-R08C and the teaching remote for optimal performance during programming.
