Do you have a question about the Control 4 ZCA-WMS10-2-ZP and is the answer not in the manual?
The Control4 Wireless Motion Sensor is a versatile device that integrates passive infrared (PIR) motion sensing with ambient light detection into a single unit, designed to enhance home automation within a Control4 system. It offers a wide range of control possibilities, allowing for intelligent automation based on object motion, occupancy, and ambient light levels.
The Wireless Motion Sensor acts as a trigger for various events within a Control4 system. When motion is detected in its monitored area, it sends a "Motion detected" event to the Control4 controller. Conversely, if no motion is detected for a user-defined "Occupancy Hold Time," a "No motion" event is sent. This functionality enables automated control of lighting, pathway lighting, exterior lighting, HVAC, and audio/video applications, both indoors and outdoors.
Beyond motion detection, the sensor incorporates an ambient light sensor, allowing it to detect outdoor light levels for dawn/dusk events. This feature can be used to automate actions based on natural light conditions.
The device supports "occupancy-based automation controls," which means it can help conserve resources and save money on utilities by controlling systems like heating, cooling, and lighting based on whether a room is occupied. This aligns with environmental policies such as California Title 24 and Canada's NBC 2005.
Multiple motion sensors can be cascaded or linked together to improve detection coverage in larger areas. In such a setup, a "Motion detected" event occurs if any linked sensor detects motion, and a "No motion detected" event is sent only when all linked sensors' Occupancy Hold Times have expired. This cascading is configured within Composer Pro's Connections tab.
