Overview

This document describes the Costway Vertical Garment Steamer, model ES10040US, a device designed for steaming garments and other fabrics.

Function Description

The Costway Vertical Garment Steamer works by applying hot steam at 208°F (97.8°C) to fabric, which softens the fibers and allows for smoothing and neatening through pulling and pressing movements. Beyond just ironing, the steamer can also clean, disinfect, and remove odors from fabrics. It is commonly used in garment shops, hotels, restaurants, and homes. The device is designed for ease of use, portability, and time-saving, eliminating the need for an ironing board. It features a quick heat-up time of 45 seconds and provides continuous steam for 60 minutes. The product incorporates a double safety protection device, including auto power-off for overheating or low water levels. It is suitable for cleansing and ironing various fabric types, including garments, curtains, carpets, and bed sheets.

Usage Features

The steamer is designed for straightforward operation. Installation:

  1. Telescopic Rods and Hook: The main body is placed on the ground. Telescopic rods are inserted into grooves and buckled, with adjustable height via clips. A transverse bar is then placed into the rods, and hooks are inserted into the top of the transverse bar. The hooks can rotate 360° for angle adjustment.
  2. Steam Hose: The hose is inserted into a designated hole, rotated, and tightened. The sprinkler is then placed on the hook.
  3. Brush/Pant Hook: An integrated fabric brush or bottom bracket can be attached to the sprinkler. The fabric brush is useful for clothes with wrinkles or dust, but should not be used on soft fabrics like silk or satin. For pants, they can be fixed on the transverse bar, with the crease placed in the middle of the brush and sprinkler, allowing for slow and patient ironing while straightening the fabric with the other hand to avoid creases.

Operation:

  1. Filling Water: The water tank is removed from the main body, its cap unscrewed, and filled with water. The cap is then tightened, and the tank is placed back onto the machine, ensuring its outlet aligns with the correct position. It is crucial not to turn on the power before adding water and to ensure the bottom drain is closed before first use.
  2. Starting the Program: After ensuring the switch is off, the machine is plugged into an AC 120V 15A socket. Turning on the power switch illuminates the power indicator, and steam will begin to emit from the sprinkler after 45 seconds.
  3. Ironing Methods:
    • Maintain a safe distance from the steam and sprinkler holes (at least 20cm from the body).
    • The hose may become hot during ironing, which is normal.
    • Less wrinkled fabrics are easier to iron; thicker clothes require more time.
    • Fabric should be leveled before starting.
    • For soft materials like towels or handkerchiefs, fix them on the hanger or hook.
    • For thick fabrics, repeated ironing may be necessary.
    • The key to ironing involves holding the bottom of the cloth with one hand, pulling down with slight stress to flatten the surface, while pressing the cloth with the steaming sprinkler with the other hand.
    • Move the sprinkler upwards from the bottom of pockets.
    • For sleeves, straighten and iron downwards from the top.
    • Collars may take longer; iron up and down with care.
    • When ironing clothes edges, hold one corner, straighten it, and move the sprinkler upwards, being careful to avoid burns.
    • The knob on the control panel is used to adjust different power settings depending on the product's gear set.

Maintenance Features

Descaling: Due to high mineral content in water in many areas, sediment accumulation is a common issue that can lead to irregular or interrupted steaming. Descaling should be performed periodically (preferably every 15 days).

  1. Mix vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio.
  2. Inject this mixture into the machine via the hose connection kit until it reaches the highest water level.
  3. Press the "DESCALING" button; the machine will automatically remove scale.
  4. Wait for 30 minutes.
  5. Discharge the mixture through the bottom drain.

Draining Water Reservoir and Machine Storage:

  1. Power off the machine and unplug it from the outlet. It is normal for steam to spray out briefly after powering off.
  2. Allow the machine to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Open the water reservoir cover and drain the water from the tank.
  4. Loosen the down locknut and remove the telescopic rods for easy storage.
  5. Loosen and remove the steam hose from its front end.
  6. Empty any remaining water from the steam generator.
  7. Store the machine in a safe and dry position. It is recommended to clear and drain the water reservoir and steam generator twice a month to ensure safe operation and keep the machine dry after use.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • Fail to heat: Check power supply, switch, cord connection, and components.
  • No steam: Check for lack of water (inject water) or power switch (turn off and inject water).
  • Sprinkler drips water: Caused by condensation in the pipe or a broken sprinkler. Lift the sprinkler to allow drips to flow back to the water tank, or replace the sprinkler.
  • Steam pipe buzzes: Indicates pipe curls or the sprinkler is lower than the horizon. Straighten the pipe or lift the sprinkler.
  • Light problem: Check for blown fuse or poor contact (replace fuse, check plug and outlet).
  • Intermittent steaming: Caused by sediments (clear as per descaling instructions).

For issues that cannot be resolved, users are advised to contact customer service.
