Why my Craftsman 316.29262 Tiller engine will not start?
- HHeather WilliamsAug 11, 2025
If your Craftsman Tiller engine won't start, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty; if it is, refill it with fresh fuel. If the engine is flooded, squeeze the trigger and pull the starter rope. Also, old fuel could be the culprit, so drain the tank and add fresh fuel. Other potential issues include a fouled spark plug (replace it), a plugged spark arrestor (clean or replace it), or the outside temperature being too low (below 40º F, pull the starter rope 10-15 times) or too high (above 90º F, squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope). Finally, make sure you have pressed the primer bulb fully and slowly 10 times.
