PARKING BRAKE
Tosettheparkingbrake,fullydepressthebrakepedal.Movethe
parkingbrakeleverintothe ON position.Releasethebrakepedalto
allowtheparkingbraketoengage.
Toreleasethe parkingbrake,depressthe brakepedaland movethe
parkingbrakeleverout of the ONpositionandinto the OFFposition.
NOTE:The parkingbrakemustbe setifthe operatorleavestheseat
withtheenginerunningor the enginewillautomaticallyshutoff.
AMMETER
Theammetermeasuresthe electricaloutputofthe engine'scharging
system.Undernormaloperatingconditions,withengineat full throttle,
theammetershouldindicatepositivecharge.
THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL LEVER
Thethrottle/chokecontrolleveris
locatedonthe right sideof thetrac-
tor'sdashpanel.This levercontrols
thespeedof the engineand, when
pushedall thewayforward,the
chokecontrolalso.Whensetin
a givenposition,thethrottlewill
maintaina uniformenginespeed.
iMPORTANT:Whenoperating
thetractorwiththe cuttingdeck
engaged,becertainthatthe throttle
leverisalwaysin theFAST(rabbit)
position.

IGNITION SWITCH MODULE
Thekeyswitchmoduleisusedto start andstoptheengine.It is also
usedtoactivatethe ReverseCautionMode(bladesoperatewhile
ridingin reverse).Insertkeyintothe keyswitchmoduleandturn
clockwiseto theSTARTposition.
Releasethe keyintothe normalmow- o,,....... oo,o
ingpositiononceenginehasstarted. @
Theheadlightswill beactivatedinthe
Normal(andReverseCaution)modes.
Tostoptheengine,turnthe ignition
keycounterclockwisetothe STOP
position.
IMPORTANT:Priorto operatingthe
tractor,referto both"SafetyInterlock
System"and"StartingTheEngine"
laterin thissectionof thismanual
fordetailedinstructionsregardingthe IgnitionSwitchModuleand
operatingthetractorin REVERSECAUTIONMODE.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.AlwaysdisengagePTO,
moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,setparkingbrake,stopengine
andremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
DECK LIFT LEVER
Foundonyourtractor'srightfender,thedeckliftleveris
usedto changethe heightof the cuttingdeck. Touse,move
theleverto the left, thenplacein the notchbestsuitedfor
yourapplication.
PTO (BLADE ENGAGE) LEVER
Foundonthetractor'srightfender,the PT0 (bladeengage)
leveris usedto engagepowerto the cuttingdeckorother
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Tooperate,movethe
leverall thewayforward.Movingthe leveralltheway
rearwardinto the PTOOFFpositiondisengagespowerto
thecuttingdeck/attachment.
NOTE:The PTO(bladeengage)levermustbe inthe
disengaged(PTOOFF)positionwhenstartingthe engine.
CUP HOLDER
Thetractor'scupholderis locatedon thefendertothe left
ofthe seat.
SPEED CONTROL LEVER

directionandgroundspeedof thelawn
tractor.Touse,releasethe parkingbrake
and movethe speedcontrolleverforward
(totravelforward)or rearward(to travelin
reverse).The furtherforwardor rearward
thatthe leveris moved,thefasterthe
tractorwilltravel.
Placethe speedcontrolleverinthe Cutting
Speed,orslower,positionwhenmowing.
iMPORTANT:Do NOTattemptto change
thedirectionof travelwhenthe tractoris
inmotion.Seriousdamageto thetractor's
transmissioncouldresult.Alwaysbringthetractortoa completestop
beforemovingthespeedcontrolleverfromforwardtoreverseor vice
versa.
iMPORTANT:Alwayssetthe parkingbrakewhenleavingthetractor
unattended.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT LEVER
Toadjusttheseatforwardorbackwardonunitsequippedwithaquick-
adjustseat,slidethe seatadjustmentlevertotheleftandrepositionthe
seatto thedesiredposition.Onceacomfortablepositionisfound,release
theseatadjustmentleverto locktheseatinplace.Referto theAssembly
ofthismanualformoredetailedinstructionsontheseatadjustments.
BRAKE PEDAL
Thebrakepedalis locatedon theleftsideof the lawntractor,along
therunningboard.Depressthe brakepedalpartof thewaydownto
slowthetractor'sgroundspeed.Depressthepedalallthe waydownto
engagethediscbrakeandbringthetractorto a completestop.
NOTE:The pedalmustbe depressedto startthe engine.Referto
SafetyInterlockSwitchesin theOperationSectionof this manual.
