Overview

This document is an operator's manual for a Craftsman ZTS 6000 Zero-Turn Mower 2-Bin Bagger Attachment, Model No. 107.249130 (Twin Bagger / 52" Mower). It provides instructions for assembly, operation, storage, and repair parts for the grass collection system.

Function Description:

The Craftsman ZTS 6000 2-Bin Bagger Attachment is designed to collect grass clippings from a 52-inch zero-turn mower. It consists of a chute system that directs clippings from the mower deck into two collection bags housed within a cover assembly. This system helps maintain a clean lawn by preventing cut grass from being left on the surface and can be particularly useful for managing leaves or for achieving a manicured look. The attachment includes a counterweight system to ensure stability of the mower when the bagger is in use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: 107.249130
  • Mower Compatibility: 52" Zero-Turn Mower
  • Bagger Type: 2-Bin (Twin Bagger)
  • Grass Bag Dimensions: 15.9 X 16.5 inches (Part No. 1703764SM)
  • Hardware Torque Specifications: The manual includes a detailed "Torque Specification Chart" for standard machine hardware, with tolerances of ±20%. It specifies torque values in both in/lbs (ft/lbs) and Nm for various hardware grades (No Marks, SAE Grade 2, SAE Grade 5, SAE Grade 8) and sizes (e.g., 8-32, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 1/2-13). For example, a 1/4-20 bolt requires 8 ft/lbs (10.9 Nm) for SAE Grade 2, 12 ft/lbs (16.3 Nm) for SAE Grade 5, and 14 ft/lbs (19.0 Nm) for SAE Grade 8. Recommended seating torque values for locknuts are 65% of grade 5 torques for prevailing torque locknuts and 135% of grade 5 torques for flange whizlock nuts and screws.
  • Slope Operation Limit: Never operate on slopes greater than 17.6% (10°).

Usage Features:

  • Counterweight Requirement: A front counterweight is mandatory when using the rear-mounted grass collection system to ensure stability.
  • Pre-Operation Checks: Before mowing, the lawn must be cleared of sticks, stones, wire, and other debris. Grass condition should be dry to prevent clogging. The underside of the mower and catcher lid must be free from grass and debris to ensure efficient air circulation. A snug fit between the mower deck, blower housing, tubes, and grass catcher cover is essential.
  • Mowing with Catcher:
    • Operate with the throttle at full speed.
    • Cut grass often and avoid cutting too short.
    • For long or lush grass, reduce ground speed or cut only half the mower width to prevent clogging.
    • For very long grass, make an initial pass at a high cutting position, followed by a second pass at a lower position.
    • Do not open the cover while mower blades are turning.
    • If grass spills from under the deck, stop the unit, disengage the PTO, shut off the engine, and empty the catcher or clear the tube.
  • Slope Operation: Use reduced speed on uneven ground and when turning corners. Reduce loads on hillsides, keeping the collection system only half full when negotiating slopes. Start mowing on slopes when the collection system is empty. Mow up and down the face of slopes, never across.
  • Collector Removal: The system can be easily removed by lifting the cover, emptying the bags, detaching the hitch and frame assembly, loosening the middle tube strap, removing the middle/upper tube assembly, lifting the discharge deflector, rotating the latch, and pulling the lower chute away from the mower.
  • Operation Without Bagger: When the bagger is removed, the mower deflector MUST be properly installed in the down position and retained by the spring latch for safe operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Decal Replacement: If any safety decals are lost or damaged, they should be replaced immediately. Part Number 1732819 is for the "WARNING Thrown Objects Hazard" decal.
  • Bag Inspection: Collector bags are subject to deterioration and wear. They should be inspected periodically for tears, holes, or weak spots and replaced with new bags meeting manufacturer's durability standards.
  • Post-Operation Cleaning:
    • Remove any debris from the screen on the underside of the lid.
    • The blower housing and tube should be removed and cleaned.
    • Inspect grass bags for wear or damage and ensure a snug fit between components.
    • Empty bagger containers after each use and before storing to prevent spontaneous combustion and fire hazards.
  • Storage:
    • Thoroughly clean the grass catcher with a mild detergent.
    • Touch up scratched metal parts with paint or apply a thin film of oil to prevent corrosion.
    • Store in a dry area, ensuring it is thoroughly dry before long-term storage and kept away from moisture.
  • Hardware Identification: The manual provides guides for identifying common hardware types (Hex Head Capscrew, Washer, Carriage Bolt, Lockwasher, Hex Nut) and their sizing (Nominal size, threads per inch, body length). It also includes a "Wrench & Fastener Size Guide" to help select appropriate tools.
  • Repair Parts: The manual includes detailed "Repair Parts" diagrams and lists with part numbers, quantities, and descriptions for all components of the 2-Bin Bagger Group for a 52-inch mower. This allows for easy identification and ordering of replacement parts.
