Maintenance and Adjustment of the UV
Check the electrode (1) for
carbon deposits or a burned
condition.
Normal color should be
Light to medium Tan.
If incorrect, replace
If Spark plug is dirty or worn replace it.
Apply a light amount of anti-seize to
the threads and reinstall the spark
plug.
Measuring the Compression Pressure
Note:
Insufficient compression pressure will
result in a loss of performance.
1.
Start the engine and let it warm up
for several minutes.
2.
Stop the engine and remove the
spark plug.
3.
Assemble the compression pressure
tester ① and adapter② and screw
it into
the spark plug hole.
Spark Plug torque
18 Nm -20 Nm (1.8 m · kg, 13 ft · lb)
Reinstall the spark plug cap.
Lower the cargo bed.
Note:
When cranking the engine, ground the
spark plug lead to prevent sparking.

Crank over the engine with the
electric starter (be sure the battery is
fully charged) with the throttle wide-
open until the compression reading
on the gauge stabilizes.
5.
Note the highest reading on the
gauge.
