Overview

The Cubigel DL19H, DL22H, and DL30H series are 12-24V DC compressors designed for mobile refrigeration applications in vehicles such as trucks, caravans, boats, and cars. These compressors are engineered for compact dimensions, high reliability, and efficient performance, even at tilt angles up to 30°. They operate with R134a refrigerant and are suitable for capillary tube expansion.

Function Description:

These compressors are designed to provide cooling for mobile appliances, operating from a low voltage DC power supply. They feature an electronic driver that controls their operation, including speed, temperature, and battery protection. The electronic driver can be controlled either through resistance settings or via an Electronic Integral Manager (EIM) in serial mode for more advanced control.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage Range: 12V to 24V DC.
  • Operating Voltage Supply Allowed: 9.6V to 31.5V.
  • Evaporation Temperature Range: -35°C to +10°C.
  • Condensation Temperature Range: Up to 65°C (Pull-down peak: 70°C).
  • Ambient Temperature Range: -10°C to 60°C.
  • Compressor Speed Range: 1200 to 4000 rpm.
  • Electronic Driver Consumption (stopped): 0.5W.
  • Maximum Tilt Angle (stopped or running): 30°.
  • Refrigerant: R134a.
  • Fuses: 12A for 12V systems, 7.5A for 24V systems.
  • Fan Drive Capability: 0.5A for a 12V DC fan.

Usage Features:

General Rules and Wiring Connections:

* The compressors must always be powered through the dedicated electronic driver supplied with the compressor.
* Direct connection of the compressor's hermetic pins (fusite) to a battery or any other DC/AC source is strictly prohibited.
* Only the electronic driver supplied with the compressor should be used.
* Correct polarity must be observed when connecting the battery to the electronic driver's power input terminals.
* The negative power input terminal of the electronic driver should be referred to the chassis of the vehicle and the appliance frame.
* A fuse must be placed between the positive pole of the battery/DC power supply and the positive power input terminal of the electronic driver.
* To prevent excessive voltage drop, the length and cross-section of power leads must correspond to the voltage supply. For 12V systems, a 2.5 mm² cable can be up to 2.5m, 4 mm² up to 4m, 6 mm² up to 6m, and 10 mm² up to 10m. For 24V systems, these lengths double: 2.5 mm² up to 5m, 4 mm² up to 8m, 6 mm² up to 12m, and 10 mm² up to 20m.

Electronic Driver Controlled Through Resistance:

* **Operating Voltage Setting:** The electronic driver allows for setting different battery protection levels using an external resistance connected between pins C and P. For example, with no external resistance (0 KΩ), the 12V stop value is 9.6V, and the 24V stop value is 21.3V. Increasing resistance values adjust these thresholds.
* **Temperature Switch:** The compressor's running speed can be adjusted by connecting a resistance between pins C and T. Without any resistance, the compressor runs at 2000 rpm. Adding resistance increases the speed; for instance, 51 Ω results in 2100 rpm, while 1523 Ω results in 3500 rpm.
* **External Fan:** A 12V DC fan can be connected to the F+ and F- terminals of the controller. The controller maintains a 12V output between these terminals, even if the input voltage exceeds 12V (for 24V systems).

Electronic Driver Controlled Through ECM (Serial Mode):

* In this mode, the compressor speed is controlled by an Electronic Integral Manager (EIM) of the appliance. The EIM connects to the electronic driver via the D terminal using serial communication.
* The EIM monitors the internal temperature, compares it with the set point, and determines the compressor's operation and speed.
* This mode allows for advanced control and recording of abnormal circumstances. For detailed communication protocol, contact Huayi Compressor Barcelona S.L.
* The wiring for this mode includes connections for DC input (+/-), a 12V DC fan (F+/F-), a data communication interface (D), a control ground wire (C), and access to a temperature probe (T and C). The P pin is for controller power input protection and is not used in this scheme.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Protection System: The electronic driver incorporates a battery protection system that prevents the compressor from operating if the input voltage drops below a set threshold. This protects the power supply batteries from deep discharge. The cut-out and cut-in voltages are adjustable via resistance settings between pins C and P. For example, a standard 12V cut-out is 10.4V (cut-in 11.7V), and a 24V cut-out is 22.8V (cut-in 24.2V).
  • Protections and Alarms: The DL series compressors are electronically protected against various malfunctions and failures.
    • A 10mA LED (connected between terminals + and D) serves as a fault display.
    • When a failure occurs, the LED flashes in cycles of 3 seconds, with different numbers of flashes indicating specific fault types. Each flash lasts 0.4 seconds, and the flashing continues for 3.2 minutes.
    • Alarm Codes:
      • 1 blink: Voltage fault (input voltage outside set range).
      • 2 blinks: Fan current fault (fan current output greater than 1A).
      • 3 blinks: Compressor start fault (compressor motor stall or system pressure too high).
      • 4 blinks: Compressor minimum speed fault (compressor overloaded or motor speed too low).
      • 5 blinks: Controller temperature fault (controller housing temperature > 85°C).
      • 6 blinks: Controller hardware failure (abnormal parameter detected by the controller).
  • Oil Heater: In ambient temperatures below 0°C, an oil heater is required to ensure proper operation.

Important Considerations:

  • DL series compressors are not designed for off-road mobile applications unless specifically approved by Huayi Compressor Barcelona.
  • Always ensure proper wiring and fuse installation as specified in the manual to prevent damage and ensure safe operation.
