Overview

The Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker (DCB-10) is designed to produce smooth, perfectly balanced cold brew coffee by utilizing a unique brewing process that avoids high temperatures. This method extracts fewer acidic oils from the coffee, resulting in a less bitter flavor profile. The coffeemaker is intended for household use and emphasizes the importance of water quality, coffee temperature, bean freshness, and proper coffee-to-water proportion for optimal taste.

Function Description

The primary function of the Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker is to automate the cold brewing process. Users can select their desired coffee strength (Mild, Medium, or Bold), and the machine will initiate a brew cycle that gently spins and pauses the coffee filter basket throughout the process. Once brewing is complete, the coffeemaker signals that the coffee is ready to be released into the carafe. A coffee release lever allows the filtered cold brew to flow into the 7-cup glass carafe, which can then be used for serving or refrigerated for storage. The unit incorporates a 60-Second Reset feature, providing protection against power interruptions and retaining programmed information.

Usage Features

The coffeemaker is designed for ease of use with several intuitive features. The Control Panel includes a Brew Button to start and stop the brewing cycle, and Strength Buttons (Mild, Medium, Bold) to select the desired coffee flavor. White indicator lights illuminate the chosen strength setting. The default strength is Medium. The Coffee Release Lever has two positions: Lock and Release. The lever must be in the Lock position to begin brewing, and a blue indicator light will be off in this position. Once the brew cycle is complete, sliding the lever to the Release position allows the coffee to flow into the carafe, and the Blue Coffee Release Indicator Light illuminates. Users are reminded to return the lever to the Lock position after coffee has been filtered to prepare for the next brew.

The Removable Water Tank features water level markings, making it easy to fill with cold or room temperature water. It is crucial never to pour water directly into the body of the unit unless the water tank is securely in place, and hot water should never be used. The Coffee Filter Basket is easily accessible by lifting the coffeemaker lid and can be filled with ground coffee either by removing the pop-off lid while the basket is in the tank or by removing the entire basket and unscrewing its twist-off lid. A measuring scoop is included to ensure accurate coffee proportions. The coffeemaker also includes a Ready Tone Alert that beeps three times when the brew cycle is completed and five times when coffee is fully released into the carafe. The 7-cup glass carafe has an ergonomic handle and coffee markings for 3 to 7 cups, and its lid includes a removable filter for easy cleaning. All parts that come into contact with coffee or liquids are BPA-free.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker is straightforward. Before first use, and regularly thereafter, all removable parts should be washed. The Coffeemaker Lid, Water Tank, and Coffee Filter Basket can be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or placed in the upper rack of a dishwasher. The coffee filter basket, in particular, should be soaked regularly in warm, soapy water for 30 minutes to prevent oil buildup, especially when using dark, oily beans.

After removing the water tank, any area underneath should be wiped with a damp cloth, but no water should be poured directly into the unit's body. The Carafe Lid and its Carafe Filter are also washable in warm, soapy water or in the upper rack of the dishwasher. It is important to avoid using scouring agents or harsh, abrasive cleansers on any part of the coffeemaker. The base unit should never be immersed in water or other liquids; instead, it should be wiped with a clean, damp cloth and dried before storage. Fingerprints or blemishes on the housing can be cleaned with soap and water or a nonabrasive cleaning solution. Any servicing beyond routine cleaning and user maintenance should be performed by authorized Cuisinart Repair Personnel.
