Questions and Answers

What to do if my Culligan Water Filtration System has poor product water quality?
    • C
      Charles RodriguezAug 20, 2025
Poor product water quality can stem from several issues. These include insufficient feed water flow (clogged shut-off valve or feed tubing, clogged prefilter, or clogged manifold), insufficient feed water pressure, increased feed water TDS, a plugged prefilter, a RO membrane fouled with sediment, or a shutoff malfunction. Addressing these issues involves cleaning or replacing the affected components. Another reason for poor water quality is a worn-out RO membrane filter, which would require replacement. A shutoff malfunction can also cause poor water quality, so replace the shutoff if needed.

Why does my Culligan Water Filtration System have low faucet pressure?
    • A
      Andrew GonzalezAug 23, 2025
Low faucet pressure can be due to inadequate pre-charge pressure in the storage tank; determine the minimum pressure using the 70% guideline. It can also be caused by a plugged polishing filter, so replace the polishing filter.

What to do if my Culligan Water Filtration System product water tastes bad?
    • J
      John LaraAug 26, 2025
Bad tasting product water can occur for several reasons. It could be due to a decrease in product quality, foreign matter in the storage tank, an exhausted polishing filter, a plugged capillary tube, or a ruptured storage tank bladder. To resolve this, clean, sanitize, and flush the storage tank if there's foreign matter. Replace the polishing filter if it's exhausted. Replace the capillary tube (and prefilter, if necessary) if the tube is plugged. Replace the storage tank and check the precharge pressure if the bladder is ruptured.

How to fix overflow at the faucet air gap (gurgling sounds) in my Culligan Water Filtration System?
    • D
      davidgreenAug 28, 2025
Overflow at the faucet air gap, often accompanied by gurgling sounds, can occur if the concentrate tubing or air gap is plugged. Clean the concentrate tubing of debris and clean the air gap with vinegar and/or soap. Also, ensure the concentrate tubing has a continuous downward slope, eliminating any loops or low spots. An obstructed home drain pipe can also cause this issue; free the obstruction.

Why does my Culligan Water Filtration System have a bad smell from the product water?
    • L
      Larry YoungAug 30, 2025
A bad smell from the product water may be due to an exhausted polishing filter or prefilter element. Replacing the polishing filter or the filter element may resolve the issue. Additionally, the unit might need disinfection, so sanitize the unit.

Why is my Culligan Water Filtration System foaming at the air-gap?
    • K
      kevin46Sep 2, 2025
Foaming at the air-gap can occur if the concentrate tubing is connected to the same drain line as a dishwasher or similar appliance; in this case, find a different drain for the system. It can also happen when the sink is full of soapy water and the plug is pulled, causing backflow at the air-gap. This, as well as general foaming at the air-gap, can be due to an obstructed home drain; free the obstruction.

What causes external leakage in my Culligan Water Filtration System?
    • J
      Jason ElliottSep 4, 2025
External leakage can occur if tubing is not fully seated in the fitting, so check all fittings for tightness. It can also happen if tubing is abraded in the seal area; recut the tubing and redo the connection.

Why is my Culligan Water Filtration System foaming at the faucet tip?
    • O
      Omar MendozaSep 7, 2025
Foaming at the faucet tip can occur if the storage tank is positioned on its side, preventing dissolved air from escaping. Place the tank in a vertical position to resolve this.

What causes flow control plugging in Culligan Aqua-Cleer Water Filtration Systems?
    • V
      Virginia RosarioSep 9, 2025
Flow control plugging can be caused by excessive turbidity. To address this, install another 5-micron filter in series with the existing one, or substitute a carbon block filter for the granular activated carbon filter. It can also be caused by iron fouling, in which case you should pretreat for iron removal, or iron-bacteria fouling, in which case you should sanitize the plumbing.

Why is my Culligan Water Filtration System draining fast?
    • M
      Michael RussellSep 12, 2025
A fast flow to the drain indicates a defective flow control assembly. Replace the flow control assembly to resolve this issue.
