Overview

This document describes the Current 95W R24 REEF LED Add-On Light, a specialized lighting fixture designed for reef aquariums. It functions as an additional light unit that must be connected to a compatible LED controller and mounting option, both sold separately, to operate. The system is part of the LOOP ecosystem, indicating an integrated approach to aquarium control.

Function Description:

The 95W R24 REEF LED Add-On Light provides high-intensity illumination suitable for reef environments. Its primary function is to supplement or expand an existing Current LOOP lighting system, offering additional light coverage and intensity for larger tanks or specific coral needs. The "Add-On" designation emphasizes its role as an expansion unit rather than a standalone lighting solution. It requires connection to a "High Power LED HUB" which then interfaces with a "LOOP Mini BLUETOOTH Controller" or an existing 52W HUB/controller. This modular design allows users to customize their lighting setup based on their aquarium's size and inhabitants' requirements. The system is designed to prevent electrical hazards through the use of drip loops and requires connection to a GFCI outlet.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Output: 95W, indicating a significant light output suitable for demanding reef environments.
  • Power Supply: 12V DC Power Supply, UL® Listed, ensuring safety and compliance with electrical standards.
  • Components Included:
    • 95W REEF LED Light Fixture (1)
    • 12V DC Power Supply, UL® Listed (1)
    • Cable Wraps (2)
    • Extension Cable (1)
    • High Output R24 Light HUB (1)
    • Hub Bracket w/Screws & Tape (1)
    • microUSB Cable (1)
  • Operating Temperature Range: The device should not be installed or stored where it will be exposed to temperatures below 0° Celsius (32° Fahrenheit) or above 50° Celsius (122° Fahrenheit). This highlights the importance of environmental control for optimal performance and longevity.
  • Electrical Safety: Requires connection to a GFCI (Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter) wall outlet and emphasizes the use of drip loops to prevent water from reaching electrical outlets. The power supply must be UL or ETL listed.
  • Connectivity: Utilizes microUSB cables for connecting the High Power LED HUB to the main controller and other HUBs (DC Pump HUB, Wave Pump HUB, other Add-on 95W LED HUBs, or Add-on 52W LED HUBs). The IC Extension Cable connects the LED light to the HUB.

Usage Features:

  • Modular Design: The "Add-On" nature allows for flexible expansion of existing LOOP systems. Users can connect multiple 95W LED units to a single High Power LED HUB, which then connects to the main controller.
  • Integrated Control: The light unit is controlled via a compatible LOOP controller (e.g., LOOP Mini BLUETOOTH Controller), enabling centralized management of various aquarium devices, including other lights, pumps, and wavemakers. This suggests features like programmable light cycles, intensity adjustments, and special effects, although these are functions of the controller rather than the light itself.
  • Mounting Options (Sold Separately): The manual lists several mounting options, including Flex Arm Tank Mount, Flex Arm Stand Mount, Hanging Kit / SlotFrame, and Swivel Bracket. This provides versatility in how the light can be positioned over the aquarium.
  • Easy Installation: The instructions detail a straightforward connection process involving the extension cable, HUB, and microUSB cables. The HUB mounting bracket includes screws and tape for easy placement.
  • System Expansion: The diagram illustrates how various HUBs (DC Pump, Wave Pump, other LED HUBs) can be daisy-chained via microUSB to the main controller, creating a comprehensive and integrated aquarium management system.
  • Compatibility: Specifically designed to work with LOOP controllers and existing 52W HUBs, ensuring seamless integration into the Current-USA ecosystem.

Maintenance Features:

  • No User-Serviceable Parts: The safety warnings explicitly state, "Never attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance." This indicates that the device is not designed for user maintenance beyond basic cleaning.
  • Cleaning Instructions: Users are advised to "Always unplug the fixture when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning." This suggests that periodic cleaning of the fixture may be necessary to maintain optimal light output and appearance.
  • Inspection: Users are instructed to "Carefully examine the fixture after installation and BEFORE you plug it into the GFCI wall outlet. Be sure there is no water on any part of the light fixture or the timer." Regular inspection for damage or water ingress is crucial for safety.
  • Warranty: A one-year limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, provided the product is purchased from an authorized reseller. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, saltwater corrosion, electrical surges, modifications, or misuse. This encourages proper handling and installation to ensure product longevity.
  • Troubleshooting: In case of missing components or defects, users are directed to contact Current-USA directly rather than returning the product to the retailer, streamlining the support process.
  • Drip Loop Importance: The emphasis on drip loops is a critical maintenance and safety feature, preventing water from traveling along cords and reaching electrical outlets, thus protecting both the device and the user.
