INSTALLATION
installation

is
not
complicated.
However,
the
follow-
ing
guidelines
must
be
followed
for
satisfactory
performance
and
to
assure
ful!
coverage
under
the
terms
of
the
warranty:
e
Do
not
attempt
to
remove
the
cabinet
cover
—
there
are
no
user
serviceable
parts
inside
the
unit
¢
Make
sure
the
power
switch
is
in
the
Off
position
before
making
any
connections
@
The
amplifier
and
associated
equipment
may
be
placed
on
a
table,
shelf
or
it
may
be
mounted
in
furniture
suitably
designed
for the
purpose
@
The
equip-
ment
must
not
be
exposed
to
excessive
dust,
moisture
or
direct
heat
sources
©
Since
the
amplifier
may
generate
a
considerable
amount
of
heat
when
operated
at
high
power
output,
care
must
be
taken
to
provide
a
minimum
opening
for
free
air
movement,
in
and
out
of
the
cabinet
to
the
room.
AMPLIFIER
CONNECTIONS
Refer
to
back
side
cover,
Connection
Diagram.
LOUDSPEAKERS
-
Connect
left
and
right
channel
speakers
to
amplifier
terminal
on
rear
panel.

Use
suitable
gauge
wire.
For
wire
lengths
of
less
than
6
meter
or
20
feet,
2x0.75
mm2
wire
is
recommended.
For
longer
distances,
2x1.5
mm?
wire
should
be
used.
This
is
necessary
to
avoid
power
loss
and
to
maintain
good
control
or
damping
of
the
loudspeaker,

Use
care
not
to
short
circuit
speaker
cables.

Phase
properly.
That
is,
connect
the
positive
or
plus
terminal
on
each
speaker
to
the
corresponding
plus
terminal
on
the
amplifier.
The
minus
terminals
are
likewise
connected
together.
This
in-
sures
that
the
speakers
are
working
together
and
not
against
each
other,
providing
optimum
imaging
and
best bass
response.

Take
care
to
connect
left
and
right
speakers
to
the
proper
chan-
nel,
PHONO
TURNTABLE

Use
cables
provided
with
turntable
or
obtain
one
insulated
and
shielded
terminated
with
standard
cinch
(RCA
type)
plugs

The
turntable
should
be
connected
to
the
Phono
Input
jacks

Connect
separate
ground
lead
to
amplifier
GND
terminal

Connect
turntable
power
plug
to
wal!
receptacle.
TUNER
Use
insulated
and
shielded
audio
cables
terminated
with
standard
cinch
plugs.
Connect
to
Tuner
Input
jacks.
Observe
proper
channel
connection.
Connect
power
plug
from
the
tuner
to
wall
outlet.
Provide
suitable
antenna.

Use
insulated
and
shielded
audio
cables
terminated
with
standard
cinch
plugs.
Conriect
to
AUX

Make
proper
channel

auxiliary

RECORDER
Connect
output
of
tape
recorder
(usually
marked
Line

to

recorder

to

Use
insulated
and
shielded
audio
cables.
Connect
recorder’s
power
plug
to
wall

cord
set
into

supplying

Make
sure
power
switch
is
in
Off
position
and
the
Volume
control
is
set
to
minimum
position
before
plugging
the
cord
set.

(POWER)
Push
to
turn
power
on.
Release
to
turn
power
off.
Speaker
Selector
(SPEAKERS)
Permits
you
to
select
one
of
four
listening
conditions.
A:
Connects
the
sound
output
to
the
speakers
attached
to
the
Speaker
A
output
terminal.
B:
Connects
the
sound
output
to
the
speakers
attached
to
the
Speaker B
output
terminal.
A+B:
Connects
the
sound
output
simultaneously
to
the
speakers
attached
to
the
Speaker
A
output
terminal
and
Speaker
B
output
terminal.
Phones:
In
this
position,
all
speakers
are
silenced
and
the
sound
output
is
connected
only
to
the
headphones
connected
into
the
Phones
jack
!ocated
to
the
right
of
the
switch.
Since
the
signal.is
always
fed
to
this
jack,
regardless
of
the
switch
position,
it
is.recommended
that
the
headphones
be
discon-
nected
when
not
in
use
to
avoid
possible
overload
or
des-
truction.
Headphones
(PHONES)
Accepts
plug
from
a
stereo
headphone
for
private
listening.
Tone
Controls
(BASS/TREBLE)
These
controls
allow
you
to
adjust
the
tonal
balance
of
the
sound
output.
Bass:
Increases
or
decreases
the
level
of
the
low
frequencies
in
the
program
material.
Clockwise
rotation
increases
and
counterclockwise
rotation
decreases.
Treble:
Operates
in
the
same
manner
as
the
Bass
tone
control
except
it
provides
adjustment
of
high
frequency
levels.
Filters
(LO/HI)
Used
to
remove
low
and
high
frequency
noise
from
various
program
materials.
Low:
Filters
out
the
very
low
frequencies.
This
can
be
parti-
cularly
useful
when
a
turntable
produces
undesirable
low
rumbles.
High:
Used
to
remove
high
frequency
noise
sometimes
en-
countered
in
program
materials.

Volume/Balance
Controls
(VOLUME/BALANCE)
These
are
concentrically
connected
controls
permitting
in-
dividual
adjustment.
Volume:
Permits
adjustment
of
the
volume
for
left
and
right
channels
simultaneously.
:
Balance:
Provides
left
to
right
balance
of
program
material.
Normally
this
control
should
be
set
to
center
(12
o'clock)
Position.
Loudness
Contour
(LOUD)
When
switched
on
(lever
down)
compensates
for
difficiencies
in
human
hearing
ability
at
low
listening
levels.
That
is,
the
audio
level
of
high
and
low
frequencies
are
boosted.
Mode
Switch
(MODE)
Determines
the
manner
in
which
program
material
will
be
reproduced
through
the
left
and
right
channels.
.
Stereo:
Provides
stereophonic
reproduction‘
of
any
stereo
program
source.
Mono:
A
program
source
connected
to
the
left
and
right
channel
input
jacks
is
mixed
and
reproduced
through
both
channels.
Tape
Monitor
(MON)
Selects
the
output
of
tape
recorder
connected
to
the
Tape
Play
jacks.
Also
used
when
monitoring
the
program
informa-
tion
being
recorded
during
recording.
Input
Selector
(SELECTOR)
Selects
the
program
source
to
be
listened
to
through
the
loudspeakers
or
headphones.
Note
that
the
output-from
the
tape
recorder
can
not
be
selected
on
this
selector.
