Overview

The CyberPower Smart App UPS Series CST135UC2 is a sophisticated uninterruptible power supply designed to provide reliable power protection and management for connected equipment. This device ensures continuous operation during power outages, fluctuations, and other electrical disturbances, making it an essential component for safeguarding sensitive electronics.

Function Description:

The primary function of the CST135UC2 is to supply clean and stable power to connected devices, even when the utility power is unstable or unavailable. It achieves this through several key mechanisms:

  • Battery Backup: In the event of a power outage, the UPS seamlessly switches to battery power, providing a continuous power supply to allow for an orderly shutdown of equipment or to bridge short power interruptions. The "On Battery Indicator" and "Battery Capacity" display provide real-time status of the battery.
  • Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR): The UPS incorporates AVR technology to automatically correct minor power fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power. This feature helps to extend battery life and ensures that connected equipment receives a consistent voltage level. The "AVR Indicator" illuminates when this function is active.
  • Surge Protection: Beyond battery backup, the UPS also offers protection against power surges and spikes, which can damage electronic components.
  • Load Management: The device monitors the "Current Load Indicator" and "Overload Indicator" to ensure that the connected load does not exceed its capacity, preventing potential damage to both the UPS and the connected equipment.
  • Energy Saving: An "Energy-Saving Icon" indicates when the UPS is operating in an energy-efficient mode, helping to reduce power consumption.
  • Fault Detection: The "Fault Indicator" and "Battery Fault Indicator" alert users to potential issues with the UPS or its battery, enabling timely intervention and maintenance.
  • Scheduled Operations: The "Schedule" function allows users to program specific times for the UPS to perform certain actions, such as shutting down or turning on, which can be useful for managing power consumption or performing routine maintenance.

Usage Features:

The CST135UC2 is designed with a user-friendly interface and a range of customizable settings to optimize its performance for various environments.

  • LCD Display Interface: The comprehensive LCD provides a wealth of information at a glance, including:
    • Power Status: On Battery, Online, AVR, Energy-Saving, and Fault indicators.
    • Battery Status: Battery Capacity, Battery Fault, and Estimated Run Time.
    • Load Information: Current Load, Overload, Sensitivity Meter, and Output Meter (KVA, kW, Hz, %).
    • Input Information: Input Meter (Min, Hr°F).
    • Event Logging: Displays "EVENT" codes for various occurrences like charger faults, battery faults, output shorts, and overloads.
    • Time to Shut Down: Indicates the remaining time before the UPS will shut down due to low battery.
  • Basic Operation:
    • Power On: A simple press and hold of the POWER Button initiates the UPS, confirmed by a constant tone and a short beep.
    • Power Off: Holding the POWER button for approximately 2 seconds powers down the unit, indicated by a constant tone and two short beeps.
  • Setup Mode: The "Setup Mode" is accessed by pressing and holding the DISPLAY Button for about 3 seconds, offering a menu of 12 configurable functions:
    • Utility Quality: Allows selection of input utility power quality (Low, Normal, High, Customized) to determine how often the UPS switches to battery mode. A "Good" setting prioritizes clean power, while "Poor" tolerates more fluctuations.
    • High Transfer Voltage & Low Transfer Voltage: These settings enable fine-tuning of the maximum and minimum output voltages. This is crucial for environments with consistently high or low utility voltage, allowing the UPS to stay in line mode more often and reduce battery usage.
    • Sensitivity: Configures the UPS's responsiveness to power events. "Low Sensitivity" is suitable for equipment that can tolerate more power fluctuations, while "High Sensitivity" is for more sensitive devices.
    • Low Battery Warning: Sets the remaining runtime (in minutes) at which an audible alarm and a flashing "ON BATT." icon will activate, alerting the user to impending battery depletion.
    • Non-Critical Load: This feature allows users to designate certain outlets as "Non-Critical Load." These outlets can be programmed to shut down early (20% to 100% of battery capacity) during a power outage, preserving battery runtime for critical equipment.
    • Buzzer: Toggles audible alarms on ("b.on") or off ("b.oF"). When off, only fault or overload conditions will trigger an alarm.
    • LCD Sleep: Controls the LCD screen's behavior. "L.on" (LCD Sleep is on) turns off the screen after 1 minute of inactivity in Line Mode (always on in Battery Mode), while "L.oF" (LCD sleep is off) keeps the screen continuously on.
    • Last Fault Reason: Displays the most recent fault code, aiding in troubleshooting.
    • Back to Default Settings: Resets all configurable settings to their factory defaults.
    • Back to Status Display: Returns the LCD to the main status display.
  • Navigation and Confirmation: The DISPLAY Button is used to select functions and confirm options. A 3-second press is typically required to view options or confirm a setting. "SETTING" will stop flashing once a setting is confirmed.
  • Escape Function: An "Escape Option / Function (ESC)" allows users to navigate back through the menu structure.
  • Automatic Exit: The LCD will automatically exit setup display after 30 seconds of inactivity, and any unconfirmed settings will not be saved.

Maintenance Features:

The CST135UC2 includes features designed to facilitate maintenance and ensure the longevity of the unit and its battery.

  • Self-Test (Battery Test): This function allows the UPS to perform a self-diagnostic test of its battery, ensuring it is in good working condition. This is a crucial proactive maintenance step to verify battery health.
  • Event Reset: The "Event Reset" function clears the internal counter that records the number of power outages. This can be useful for tracking new events after a period of troubleshooting or system stabilization. It also helps in identifying recurring issues by clearing past event logs.
  • Battery Fault Indicator: This dedicated indicator provides a clear visual alert if there is an issue with the battery, prompting the user to investigate or replace it.
  • Replace Battery Indicator: While not explicitly detailed as a separate menu item, the presence of a "Battery Fault Indicator" implies that the system will alert the user when the battery needs replacement, which is a standard feature in most UPS devices for proactive maintenance.
  • Charger Faults (E01, E02): The event log specifically identifies "Charger fault (OverCharge)" and "Charger fault (No Charge)," which are critical for diagnosing issues with the battery charging system and ensuring proper battery maintenance.
  • Output Short (E21) and Overload (E22) Indicators: These fault codes in the event log help diagnose and address issues that could damage the UPS or connected equipment, guiding maintenance efforts.

By combining robust power protection with an intuitive interface and comprehensive diagnostic tools, the CyberPower Smart App UPS Series CST135UC2 offers a complete solution for managing and protecting critical electronic devices.
