Overview

This document provides installation instructions for Dacor Downdraft Raised Vents, specifically models ERV36-ER and ERV48-ER. These downdraft vents are designed for use with Dacor ER36D and ER48D series ranges. The manual emphasizes safety precautions, proper installation procedures, and technical specifications to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Function Description:

The Dacor Downdraft Raised Vent system is designed to extract smoke, fumes, and odors from cooking surfaces. It consists of the raised vent unit itself and a remote blower (Dacor models REMP3 or REMP16 are required for proper operation). The vent rises from the countertop when in use and retracts when not needed, providing a sleek and integrated look in the kitchen. The system is engineered to vent exhaust air to the outdoors, preventing recirculation of cooking by-products within the home.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models: ERV36-ER (36-Inch Raised Vent) and ERV48-ER (48-Inch Raised Vent).
  • Top Cap Width (A): ERV36-ER: 36" (914 mm); ERV48-ER: 48" (1219 mm).
  • Chassis Width (B): ERV36-ER: 33 3/8" (848 mm); ERV48-ER: 43 3/8" (1102 mm).
  • Countertop Height: Minimum 30 1/4" (768 mm), Maximum 37 1/4" (946 mm).
  • Electrical Supply: A 3-prong electrical outlet connected to a 120 Vac, 60 Hz, 15 Amp, grounded, dedicated circuit is required. The unit is supplied with a 28" (711 mm) power cord.
  • Remote Blower Power: The customer must supply conduit with a minimum current carrying capacity of 8 Amps to supply power to the remote blower from the raised vent.
  • Duct Work: The vent exhaust can be configured to vent through the back, bottom, or either side. The system requires a remote blower (REMP3 or REMP16) and appropriate duct work. The manual provides detailed calculations for maximum equivalent straight duct run lengths, considering elbows and transitions. For example, with a REMP3 blower and 10-inch duct, the maximum straight length without transitions and elbows is 40 feet.
  • Cutout Dimensions:
    • ERV36-ER: Cutout Width (C) 33 1/2" (848 mm), Range Cutout Width (D) Min. 36 1/16" (916 mm).
    • ERV48-ER: Cutout Width (C) 43 1/2" (1102 mm), Range Cutout Width (D) Min. 48 1/16" (1221 mm).
  • Tolerances: +1/16", -0, (1.6 mm, 0) unless otherwise stated.

Usage Features:

  • Raised Vent Operation: The vent is controlled by a power switch on its top cap. Pressing the switch once raises the vent to its operating position. Another press lowers it.
  • Variable Speed Control: A variable speed control switch allows adjustment of the blower's operating speed from hi-speed to low speed.
  • Compatibility: Designed specifically for Dacor ER36D and ER48D series ranges.
  • Flexible Exhaust Configuration: The unit can be configured for rear, bottom, or side exhaust, offering flexibility in installation based on kitchen layout.
  • Adjustable Anchor Legs: Equipped with adjustable anchor legs to accommodate various cabinet heights, ensuring a secure and level installation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Cleaning: The manual emphasizes the importance of cleaning filters and all grease-laden surfaces often to prevent grease fires and maintain performance. Specific instructions for filter installation and cleaning are found in the use and care manual.
  • Accessibility for Service: The design allows for the raised vent and range to be removed if service is required. The electrical outlet should be in an accessible location for easy disconnection of power without removing the unit or range.
  • Electrical Access Panel: The unit features an electrical access panel for connecting the remote blower's power conduit, simplifying electrical connections and maintenance.
