Usage Features:
Power & Fan Control:
The unit features a power switch with ON/OFF settings. The fan speed can be set to HIGH for maximum air circulation or LOW for quieter operation.
Thermostat (Temperature Control):
The thermostat automatically starts and stops cooling to maintain a desired room temperature, promoting efficient power use and economical cooling. Turning the knob clockwise results in a cooler room temperature, while turning it counter-clockwise leads to a warmer room temperature.
Air Flow Direction:
Air flow deflectors allow users to divert air from the center flow to the left or right, enabling adjustment for the desired air flow pattern.
Electrical Grounding:
The appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug for shock hazard protection. If a two-prong wall receptacle is present, a qualified electrician should replace it with a properly grounded three-prong receptacle in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
Extension Cords (DWB-056C only):
While generally not recommended due to potential safety hazards, if an extension cord must be used, it is absolutely necessary for it to be earthed and have a marked rating of 250V 10A or more.
LCDI or AFCI Power Cords (DWC-056CL only):
These models feature LCDI or AFCI power cords with a test procedure to ensure proper functioning. Users should plug the unit in, press the "RESET" button (light should turn on), then press the "TEST" button (light must turn off). Finally, pressing "RESET" again should turn the light on for use. If the unit operates normally, pressing "TEST" should trip the unit, and pressing "RESET" again should restore operation. The unit should not be used if these tests fail.
Maintenance Features:
Air Filter Cleaning:
The air filter, which removes dust from the room, should be cleaned at least once a week during operation. To clean, remove the filter from the front grill, wash it with a vacuum cleaner or lukewarm, soapy water, shake it to remove moisture, and then replace it.
Air Conditioner Cleaning:
At least once a year, the cabinet should be removed, and the air conditioner thoroughly cleaned. An authorized servicer should inspect the unit to ensure proper functioning. The air conditioner can be washed with lukewarm, soapy water. Concentrated liquid detergent should be diluted first. The front grill can be wiped with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent solution. The cabinet can be washed with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water, then polished with liquid wax. Condenser and Evaporator coils should be cleaned at the beginning of each cooling season using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner, taking care not to damage them. Abrasive cleaners should not be used as they can scratch, crack, and discolor surfaces.
The manual emphasizes the importance of using genuine parts for replacement, proper tools for repair, and accurate measuring appliances. It also highlights the need to check electric wires and power cords for damage and replace them if necessary. Connecting wires by cutting and joining them in the middle is strictly prohibited to prevent fire and malfunction. After assembly, insulation resistance should be checked, ensuring it is over 30MΩ between the power line and the ground terminal. Proper grounding and installation checks are also crucial. Children should be kept away from the air conditioner during servicing.
