Overview

This document is an Installer Reference Guide for the Daikin Altherma 3 M heat pump system, covering models EBLA09~16D and EDLA09~16D (V3/W1/3V3/3W1 variations). It is intended for authorized installers and provides detailed information for installation, configuration, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Daikin Altherma 3 M is a monobloc outdoor heat pump system designed for space heating and cooling, as well as domestic hot water (DHW) production. The system offers flexibility in controlling room temperatures and can be configured for single or multiple leaving water temperature (LWT) zones. It supports various heat emitter types, including underfloor heating, radiators, and heat pump convectors. The system can integrate with an auxiliary heat source (boiler) for bivalent operation and features energy metering capabilities for produced heat and consumed energy. Power consumption control can be implemented through permanent limitation or digital inputs, and it supports Smart Grid connections for optimized energy usage. The unit is designed for outdoor installation and includes protective functions against freezing.

  • Schedules: Program daily/weekly schedules for room temperature (heating/cooling), DHW tank temperature, quiet mode, and electricity prices.
  • Operation Modes: Select heating only, cooling only, or automatic changeover based on outdoor temperature and schedules.
  • Holiday Mode: Temporarily deviates from normal schedules, turning off space heating/cooling and DHW operation while maintaining frost protection.
  • Quiet Mode: Decreases outdoor unit sound, with multiple levels, manually or automatically activated, and configurable restrictions.
  • Energy Metering: Displays estimated produced heat and consumed energy (per month/year) for space heating, cooling, and DHW. Can be calculated internally or measured with external power meters.
  • Power Consumption Control: Limits total system power consumption (outdoor unit + backup heater) permanently or via digital inputs (up to four steps). BBR16 power limitation is available for Swedish regulations.
