This document is an operation manual for Daikin Room Air Conditioners, specifically models FT13BV1LS, FT18BV1LS, and FT24BV1LS. It provides comprehensive information on the device's functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Daikin Room Air Conditioner is designed to regulate room temperature and humidity, offering DRY, COOL, and FAN operation modes. It features a remote controller for convenient operation and includes a POWERFUL operation mode for rapid cooling. Timer functions (ON TIMER and OFF TIMER) allow for automatic scheduling of operation, and a NIGHT SET MODE adjusts temperature for comfortable sleep during OFF TIMER operation. The unit also incorporates an air purifying filter with photocatalytic deodorizing function to improve air quality.

Usage Features
- Remote Controller: The primary interface for controlling the air conditioner. It displays current settings, including mode, temperature, and timer. The remote controller (models ARC433A24, A26) features buttons for ON/OFF, POWERFUL, TEMPERATURE adjustment, MODE selection (DRY/COOL/FAN), FAN setting, SWING (horizontal and vertical blades), ON TIMER, OFF TIMER, TIMER Setting, and TIMER CANCEL.
- Operation Modes:
- DRY Mode: Reduces room humidity while maintaining temperature. Temperature and fan strength are automatically controlled and not manually adjustable.
- COOL Mode: Provides cooling. Temperature and fan speed are adjustable.
- FAN Mode: Circulates air without cooling or drying. Fan speed is adjustable.
- Air Flow Rate Setting: Five levels of air flow rate are available in COOL and FAN modes.
- Air Flow Direction Adjustment:
- Horizontal Blades (Flaps): Adjustable via the "SWING" button on the remote controller. Users can stop the swing at their desired position.
- Vertical Blades (Louvers): For 18 and 24 class models, adjustable via the "SWING" button. For 13 class models, these are manually adjusted by holding a knob on the blades.
- 3-D Airflow (18, 24 class only): Combines horizontal and vertical blade movement to circulate air throughout the room, preventing localized cold or hot areas. Activated by pressing the "SWING" button multiple times.
- POWERFUL Operation: Maximizes cooling effect for a rapid temperature change. It runs for 20 minutes and then reverts to previous settings. In COOL mode, it fixes air flow to maximum and makes temperature/air flow settings non-variable. In DRY mode, it lowers temperature by 2.5°C and slightly increases air flow. In FAN mode, air flow is fixed to maximum.
- TIMER Operation:
- OFF TIMER: Automatically turns off the unit at a set time. Includes NIGHT SET MODE for comfortable sleep.
- ON TIMER: Automatically turns on the unit at a set time.
- Combined Timer: Allows setting both ON and OFF timers for sequential operation.
- Indoor Unit ON/OFF Switch: A manual switch on the indoor unit for basic operation (COOL mode, 22°C, AUTO air flow) when the remote controller is unavailable.
- Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes critical safety instructions, including not operating near flammable gases, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct airflow, not inserting objects into air outlets/inlets, and consulting a dealer for repairs or reinstallation. It also highlights the importance of proper earthing and installing an earth leakage breaker.
Maintenance Features
- General Cleaning: Indoor unit, outdoor unit, and remote controller should be wiped with a dry soft cloth.
- Front Grille Cleaning: The front grille can be removed, washed with water and neutral detergent, and dried in the shade.
- Air Filter Cleaning: Air filters should be pulled out, washed with water or cleaned with a vacuum cleaner every two weeks. For stubborn dirt, soak in water with neutral detergent.
- Air Purifying Filter with Photocatalytic Deodorizing Function (Gray): This filter can be renewed by washing with water every 6 months and should be replaced every 3 years. It can be cleaned by removing dust with a vacuum cleaner, washing lightly with water, or soaking in water with neutral cleaning agent for heavily soiled filters. It's made of paper, so it should not be wrung out.
- Long Idle Period Preparation: Before extended non-use, operate the unit in "fan only" mode for several hours to dry the inside, clean the air filters, remove batteries from the remote controller, and turn off the breaker.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to identify common issues that are not malfunctions (e.g., delayed start, mist from indoor unit, odors) and provides checks for actual problems (e.g., no operation, poor cooling, sudden stops).
- Periodical Maintenance: Recommends professional periodical maintenance by a specialist to address potential foul conditions inside the unit after several seasons of use, which can lead to poor performance.
