Figure 5 Operating Envelope
The working principle of UAA chillers is showed as Figure 4:
1. The low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant enters the compressor and
becomes a high-temperature and high-pressure gas after compressed, then enters the
condenser from compressor, and exchanges the heat with cooling air pass through
condenser coil.
2. The high-pressure liquid refrigerant after cooled by the condenser coil passes
through liquid line.
3. Some of the refrigerant is throttled by thermal expansion valve and flashed in
economizer and then enter the compressors. The other part of liquid refrigerant is
throttled by electronic expansion valve, and then enters the evaporator.
4. The refrigerant is evaporated in the evaporator and takes use of latent heat to make
the chilled water temperature decrease and thus achieve cooling.
5. The refrigerant gas enters the compressor and begins the next cycle.
6. UAA 2 system has the same working principle as UAA 1 system. The only
difference is the number of refrigerant circuits.
Operating range
Operation outside these limits can cause the protective devices to intervene and interrupt unit
operation. In extreme cases, damage to the equipment may occur. If in doubt, consult the
manufacturer.
