Meaning of WARNING and CAUTION notices
WARNING ............. Failure to follow these instructions
properly may result in personal injury
or loss of life.
CAUTION
..............Failure to observe these instructions
properly may result in property dam-
age or personal injury, which may be
serious depending on the circum-
stances.
Ask your dealer or qualified personnel to carry out installation
work.
Do not attempt to install the air conditioner yourself. Improper
installation may result in water leakage, electric shocks or
fire.
Install the air conditioner in accordance with the instructions
in this installation manual.
Improper installation may result in water leakage, electric
shocks or fire.
Consult your local dealer regarding what to do in case of
refrigerant leakage. When the air conditioner is to be
installed in a small room, it is necessary to take proper mea-
sures so that the amount of any leaked refrigerant does not
exceed the concentration limit in the event of a leakage.
Otherwise, this may lead to an accident due to oxygen
depletion.
Be sure to use only the specified accessories and parts for
installation work.
Failure to use the specified parts may result in the unit falling,
water leakage, electric shocks or fire.
Install the air conditioner on a foundation strong enough to
withstand the weight of the unit.
A foundation of insufficient strength may result in the
equipment falling down and causing injury.
Carry out the specified installation work after taking into
account strong winds, typhoons or earthquakes.
Failure to do so during installation work may result in the unit
falling and causing accidents.
Make sure that a separate power supply circuit is provided for
this unit and that all electrical work is carried out by qualified
personnel according to local laws and regulations and this
installation manual.
An insufficient power supply capacity or improper electrical
construction may lead to electric shocks or fire.
Make sure that all wiring is secured, the specified wires are
used, and that there is no strain on the terminal connections
or wires.
Improper connections or securing of wires may result in
abnormal heat build up or fire.
When wiring the power supply and connecting the remote
controller wiring and transmission wiring, position the wires
so that the el. compo. box lid can be securely fastened.
Improper positioning of the el. compo. box lid may result in
electric shocks, fire or the terminals overheating.
If refrigerant gas leaks during installation, ventilate the area
immediately.
Toxic gas may be produced if the refrigerant comes into
contact with fire.
After completing installation, check for refrigerant gas leakage.
Toxic gas may be produced if the refrigerant gas leaks into the
room and comes into contact with a source of fire, such as a
fan heater, stove or cooker.
Be sure to switch off the unit before touching any electrical
parts.
Be sure to earth the air conditioner.
Do not earth the unit to a utility pipe, lightning conductor or
telephone earth lead. Imperfect earthing may result in elec-
tric shocks or fire.
A high surge current from lightning or other sources may
cause damage to the air conditioner.
Be sure to install an earth leakage breaker.
Failure to install an earth leakage breaker may result in
electric shocks or fire.

Overview

This document provides installation and operation instructions for DAIKIN VRV SYSTEM Inverter Air Conditioners, specifically the Ceiling-mounted Duct type models FXMQ40ARV16, FXMQ50ARV16, FXMQ63ARV16, FXMQ80ARV16, FXMQ100ARV16, and their FXMRQ counterparts.

Function Description:

These units are inverter air conditioners designed for commercial and light industrial environments. They are ceiling-mounted duct type systems, meaning they are concealed within the ceiling and distribute conditioned air through ducts. The VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) system allows for precise control of refrigerant flow to individual indoor units, optimizing energy efficiency and comfort. The units are classified as Class A products, though in a domestic environment, they may cause radio interference, requiring the user to take adequate measures.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant Type: R410A, a fluorinated greenhouse gas covered by the Kyoto Protocol.
  • GWP (Global Warming Potential) Value: 1975.
  • Power Supply: 230V, 50Hz.
  • MCA (Min. Circuit Amps): Ranges from 0.8A (40 TYPE) to 1.6A (80/100 TYPE).
  • MFA (Max. Fuse Amps): 15A for all models.
  • Fan Motor Rated Output (kW): Ranges from 0.055 kW (40 TYPE) to 0.180 kW (100 TYPE).
  • FLA (Full Load Amps): Ranges from 0.65A (40 TYPE) to 1.30A (80/100 TYPE).
  • Wiring: H05VV-U3G wire is specified for power supply. Remote controller and transmission wiring size is 0.75-1.25 mm².
  • Allowable Wiring Lengths:
    • Outdoor unit - Indoor unit: Max. 1000 m (Total wiring length: 2000 m).
    • Indoor unit - Remote controller: Max. 500 m.
  • Refrigerant Piping Flare Dimensions (A):

    • φ 9.5: 12.8-13.2 mm
    • φ 12.7: 16.2-16.6 mm
    • φ 15.9: 19.3-19.7 mm
  • Refrigerant Piping Tightening Torque:
    • φ 6.4: 14.2-17.2 N·m
    • φ 9.5: 32.7-39.9 N·m
    • φ 12.7: 49.5-60.3 N·m
    • φ 15.9: 61.8-75.4 N·m
  • Installation Clearances: Minimum 300 mm above the unit, 20 mm from the side, and 700 mm service space (minimum 450 mm for drain pan and electrical component box).
  • Drain Piping: Requires a downward slope of at least 1/100 to prevent water accumulation and leakage. Drain-up piping is possible with a maximum rise of 467 mm.
  • Insulation: Heat insulation material for refrigerant piping must withstand 120°C. Insulation for the indoor unit (above ceiling) should be glass wool or polyethylene foam with a minimum thickness of 10 mm if temperatures exceed 30°C and relative humidity 80%.
  • Fan Speed: Can be selected in 2 stages (H, L).

Usage Features:

  • Filter Sign Settings: The remote controller LCD displays a "TIME TO CLEAN AIR FILTER" message after a set operating time (default 2500 hours, adjustable to 1250, 5000, 10000 hours, or no display for regular maintenance).
  • Automatic Fan Speed Adjustment: The air conditioner incorporates a function to automatically adjust the fan to rated speed, eliminating the need for booster fans midway in the duct.

Maintenance Features:

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned when the "TIME TO CLEAN AIR FILTER" message appears on the remote controller. It can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or by washing with water and a neutral detergent. Direct firing for drying is prohibited.
  • Internal Cleaning: Periodic internal cleaning by a Daikin dealer is recommended due to special technologies required.
  • Duct Cleaning: Locally procured components like air filters, air inlet grilles, and air outlet grilles should be cleaned according to instructions.
  • Gas Leakage Check: Required after installation and periodically as per European or local legislation.
  • Drainage Check: After installation and electrical work, the drain pump operation and smooth drainage should be checked by gradually introducing water into the drain pan.
  • Error Display: The remote controller operation lamp flashes for malfunctions, and a malfunction code is displayed on the LCD to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Safety Precautions: Emphasizes the importance of professional installation, proper grounding, use of specified parts, and adherence to safety guidelines to prevent water leakage, electric shocks, fire, and personal injury. It also warns against touching electrical parts without switching off the unit and against using the air conditioner if refrigerant leakage is suspected.
