Why does my Dakota Digital Automobile Electronics cruise control surge?
- KKevin ArnoldAug 11, 2025
Surging in your Dakota Digital cruise control can occur for several reasons: * The sensitivity might be set too high. Try lowering the sensitivity setting or setting SW 1 and SW 2 to the OFF position. * The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) settings may be incorrect. Check the VSS pulse rate settings on the DIP switches. * Tach interference can also cause surging. For diagnostic purposes, disconnect the tach wire from its source and attach the blue wire to ground. * Too much slack in the throttle cable can cause this issue. Remove the slack from the cable.
