Overview

This document provides the owner's manual for a Danby Beverage Center, model DBC122KD1BSS, distributed by Exertis (UK) Ltd. It outlines important safety information, operating instructions, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty details.

Function Description

The Danby Beverage Center is designed for household and similar applications, such as staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast environments, and catering. Its primary function is to cool and store beverages, with a maximum capacity of 122, 355 ml cans. The appliance uses a compressor-based cooling system and features an automatic defrost function. It is intended for free-standing installation only and is not designed to be built into a cabinet or counter.

Usage Features

The beverage center is equipped with a control panel for easy operation. The control panel includes a power indicator light that illuminates when the compressor is in operation, a display that shows the set temperature, and up and down buttons for adjusting the temperature in 1° increments. The temperature can be set as low as 2°C and as high as 12°C. A power button allows the user to turn the appliance on or off by pressing and holding for 3 seconds.

An interior light illuminates the compartment and defaults to turning on and off when the door is opened or closed. Users can set the light to continuous illumination by pressing and holding the light button for 5 seconds until "LP" is displayed. To revert to normal light function, the light button should be pressed and held for 5 seconds until "LF" is displayed.

The appliance features magnetic door gaskets that ensure a tight seal to retain cooling power and humidity levels. It includes glass shelves for organizing beverages. The first shelf holds 18 cans, the second and third shelves hold 35 cans each, and the bottom section holds 34 cans. Shelves can be removed by tilting them upward and pulling outward, and reinstalled by pushing them inward until they lock into place. The bottom shelves are not secured and should not be pulled when stocked.

The beverage center also incorporates several alarm functions. A temperature memory feature ensures that the set temperature is remembered in case of a power loss. A temperature alarm sounds and displays "HI" if the inner cabinet temperature exceeds 23°C for one hour, or "LO" if it falls below -2°C. A door ajar alarm sounds if the door is not closed completely for 5 minutes.

For demonstration purposes, a demo mode can be activated by pressing and holding the up and down buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. In this mode, the display flashes "dE" and "On" five times, the fan runs on low speed, but the compressor does not run, and all alarms and beeping are disabled. To disengage demo mode, the same buttons should be pressed and held for 10 seconds, and the display will flash "dE" and "Of" five times.

The appliance has an adjustable leveling leg on the bottom that can be turned up or down to ensure the unit is level. To level the appliance, turn the leg counter-clockwise until the foot touches the bottom of the cabinet, then slowly turn it clockwise until the appliance is level.

The door is reversible, allowing users to change the direction it opens. This process involves removing hinge screws, the lower hinge, upper right hinge, axis plate, door stop, and actuator. The door is then flipped 180 degrees, and the components are reinstalled on the opposite side.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and proper functioning of the beverage center. Before cleaning, the appliance must be unplugged. The inside of the appliance should be cleaned with a soft cloth and a solution of a tablespoon of baking soda to one quart of water, or a mild detergent. Removable shelves should be washed in a mild detergent solution, then dried and wiped with a soft cloth. The outside of the appliance can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. It is crucial to keep the area where the door seals against the cabinet clean using a soapy cloth, then rinsing with a damp cloth and letting it dry. Ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the appliance's appearance. Commercial or abrasive cleaners and sharp objects are also to be avoided.

The appliance features an automatic defrost function, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. Defrost water is channeled into a drip tray above the compressor, where heat transfer causes it to evaporate.

For short vacations (less than three weeks), the appliance can be left operating. For long vacations (several months), it is recommended to remove all items, turn off the appliance, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and leave the door slightly open to prevent odors and mold growth.

When moving the appliance, it should be empty, and the door secured with tape. The adjustable leg should be turned up to the base to prevent damage. The outside of the appliance should be protected with a blanket or similar item. It is important to keep the appliance in an upright position during transportation. If it is placed on its back or side, it must be allowed to remain upright for 6 hours at the destination before plugging it in to avoid damage to internal components.

The manual also provides troubleshooting tips for common issues such as no power, internal temperature not being cold enough, continuous running, condensation, excessive noise, and the door not closing properly. These tips help users identify possible causes and solutions before contacting customer service.
